Take the airbox off. Take the clamps off the rubber grommets. Clean up the rubbers, put a bead of silicone on the rubbers where the clamps go and reinstall the clamps. Let it dry for 24 hours and install on sled put a bit of oil on the inside lip of the rubbers so they slip on easy. Make sure clamps stay square when tightening down no need to tighten too much just enough to make a seal. You should be good to good to go.

easiest way, trash the airbox and put K & N filters on it with larger main jets, best thing I ever did. fuel milage stayed the same.

If you like the noise and the extra expense yes he can do the k&N filters. He can do my air box mod and get the same if not better performance without the cost and without the extra loud intake noise.

I plan on doing the airbox mod this summer,
still getti8ng use to the 4 strokea big difference coming off my srx....starting all over again and relearning a new beast!

Not dyno'd but in real world before and after racing the same sleds there is a most definite increase in performance. Enough that you can tell the difference first ride with the mod.

is the mod only cutting the holes?

did you ever install or ride a sled with the ECP kit?
I would like the intake noise that you spoke of above, but honestly, I do not hear any difference unless the hood is up.

This kit has been dyno'd and proven, back when the Rx1's came out, it was a mad rush to get the kits installed, incredible pull through out. If you are getting the same results with just holes, that is impressive.

It is jetting and opening up the air box. Yes I had the ECP kit installed and took it off because it was freezing and choking the engine every time I went off trail. I then kept the jetting and opened up the air box gradually until my plugs were burning a light rustiy color and left it there. I found the air box was as good and could even be better than the filters performance wise and my gas mileage acutally went up. Go to Mod Results and check it out its a sticky.

I have run the filter kit and now run a modded airbox. Both seem to give the same performance. I too had issues with my K&N's icing up. No problem with the airbox mod.
