For the years 2016-2018 Apex's & Vectors had a updated shock from Fox that you could buy to replace the original shock with. I know Yamaha replaced the original shock with the updated one for the 2017 Apex's
at no charge. For 2018 Apex's came standard with the updated shock. I am trying to put 265 lbs.into my shock but cannot get past 254 lbs. & even the dealer can't do it. The rear of the sled is off the ground also.
Is there a trick to get more pressure into the shock? You should be able to put 300 lbs into this shock according to Fox. Is anyone having this problem. Could there be a bad schrader valve on the shock not letting you but that amount of air into the shock.
PS. The dealer gave up after about 20 min.
The dealer also said there was nothing wrong with the air pump

never tried to get mine that high. i do know that i could not hold the pump at the high pressures as it got that hot.
i do know someone was going to use a nitrogen bottle set up to put pressure in there using a regulator.

I've had mime as high as 275lbs but it's now set at 250lbs. Don't really think I do anything special when pumping but do ensure to take full strokes.

Trying to remember.. I think There is two settings on your pump one is for low pressure and the other is for high pressure, you are probably set on the low pressure side of the pump, that's why your having problems with increasing your pressure to your shock, on top off the pump where the handle and shaft goes in and out there should be a what looks like a plastic ring that will turn right or left turn this ring opposite what it is set at now and try the pump. let me know, I can go out and look at mine to be sure.

Have pump in front of me now. What I see where the shaft goes into the handle is a plastic ring, but it really doesn't turn a lot, maybe a 1/16'' of an inch.

Its on the top of the pump cylinder where the shaft goes in and out, there should be a plastic ring that turns left or right, one way for low the other way for high.

I am looing at the pump & I see the plastic ring. If I turn the plastic ring counter clockwise all it does is unthread that cap from the pump housing. This pump came with the new updated shock from fox.

Hmm... I wonder if my pump may be different, I had the same problem as you getting to the higher shock pressures, then one evening I was looking at I think was a snow tech mag or AM snowmobiler and there was article on the Fox shock pump and that is how I found out about the two different settings for pressure, followed the article instructions and low and behold my shock pumped right up to 300psi, I was in the low setting and could not get past 250 psi, I will go and take a look at my pump and see how it works for sure, I will let you know.

Ok.. my pump is the Fox defining ride dynamics 2 in 1 style pump, the ring on the top of the cylinder part of my shock pump when turned unlocks the high pressure part for pumping up your shock, so what that means is when you are just pumping air using the handle the regular way its on the low pressure side of the pump when you unlock the ring on the top of the cylinder a bigger pumping ram comes out of the cylinder and pumps a higher volume of air to reach the higher psi needed, so I kind have two pumps in one, am I losing you? lolI am looing at the pump & I see the plastic ring. OK, I nderstand you. So if this is the case you have a different pump then me. I am going to try & look for a pump like that.

What model & year of machine do you have. Once I find that out I will try to buy the pump you have.
If you dont push pump handle all the way in till it bottoms you will never get that high of pressure. It sucks and will give you a heck of a workout. Any shocks that come through me I can fill Air Chamber with Nitrogen to whatever pressure you want. Kind of defeats a good feature of the floats though. A hot shock means its working hard. The heat expands the air in it and makes it stiffer. Thats good since you want it stiffer if your riding it hard and softer if taking it easy. The air expansion and contraction does that. Nitrogen will not do that since temp will not effect it.
Can you take a pic of that pump? Never saw a selectable one. Mine has 2 guages one on front and one on back. Digital one battery died within a month or two and not replaceable.Ok.. my pump is the Fox defining ride dynamics 2 in 1 style pump, the ring on the top of the cylinder part of my shock pump when turned unlocks the high pressure part for pumping up your shock, so what that means is when you are just pumping air using the handle the regular way its on the low pressure side of the pump when you unlock the ring on the top of the cylinder a bigger pumping ram comes out of the cylinder and pumps a higher volume of air to reach the higher psi needed, so I kind have two pumps in one, am I losing you? lol
