All day Viper Clutching..

Yes. Just wondering if he changed his recommendation or not.

What set up are you running? I can verify... here is how my stock weights look.

Stock Primary Spring, Stock Helix with washers on studs and pink spring at 6-2

That's what I have. Always looking/hoping for something better though.

Could you elaborate a bit on what the clutching changes were between the two belts?

I assume with these aftermarket belts they run a common compound with each series and then just alter the length. Is the XS805 the 8DN or 8JP equivalent?

1T 2W in heel, nothing center, 1W tip I assume?

Red secondary 6-2 wrap and K helix?
The XS805 is the equivalent to the 8DN. We had to run way less weight and less helix wrap to get it to perform equal to the 8DN. This is because the XS805 is softer and really pulls down the rpm. Ulmer sets up his kits for the 8DN.

Good point, getting more expensive all the time lol, in all seriousness tho, the magnaforce weights I've been using are the same exact profile as the stock 8gl viper weights, only difference is how they're adjusted, I think that weight profile works awesome on the viper! Stock, bolt on or even with a turbo, the low-mid range pull with that profile makes the viper awesome!

Maybe thats why the stock weights they way Excell loads them are working.

Absolutely, I drove Aaron excell's viper here about a month ago and it felt awesome! No straightaways for speed but rode it back to back with some other sleds and it felt much quicker and more grunt than the 800's. Adjusting the stock weights should be something that's pointed out more often to guys who are having clutching or speed issues, simply adjust the weights you already have, it obviously works!

Of all set-ups, which had the coolest clutches at the end of the run? If they are all that close, then coolest clutch temps would be a good choice for big mile trail riders.
