Has anyone got an easy way to test to see if your donuts are leaking without dimantling. I just installed a new set of donuts this past fall . I went about 125 miles last w/e and the exhaust seems to be getting louder. Any suggestions?

Just block the two exhaust tips with your hands while the engine is idling. If it wants to stall there ok.And if the engine still runs good with a noisy exhaust leak comming from the front were the donuts are there leaking.
Hope this helps

I don,t think I would use my hands, but a couple of rags would work, without getting your hands burnt.

It does only take a quick second to know if the motor wants to die,I have just used my hands when I first start it to check.

Agreed, I just checked mine last night by doing this. I started it, let it smooth out from idle, and put my palms over the exhaust. I actually killed the sled in 3 seconds of doing this. Just don't let it idle too long or youll burn your hands on the metal exhaust tips, not so much from the exhaust at idle.

Just checked it by covering the exaust as you suggested and it killed the engine, so that's good. Maybe jI'm ust looking for problems, gotta shut my ears and drive.

i tested mine today. warmed it up good. held thick rags over the tips and it built up a lot of pressure and was about to die after about 3 seconds, unplugged tips before it actually died. i think im good for rest of this season. definitely be thinking about replacing next fall tho. i have 2950 miles on mine.

Question
Am I right in assuming if I have a leak at all in the exhaust or at the donuts and I hold the rag over the exhaust tips and it stalls out that's okay and then I have no leaks?

I have looked at 3 Apexes in the past week and none of them stalled when I covered the exhaust. One had an Excell exhaust and was a beast - that one leaked just in front of the muffler and sounded as if it was leaking up front - kind of a rumble or rattle. Didn't buy any of them but one is a maybe.
