Was wondering if anyone has replaced what is called sliders on the Yamaha microfiche on the parts lookup?? I have 2100 miles on my sled and the slider 1, according to the microfiche looks a little torn up. There are 2 number 1 sliders and 2 number 2 sliders. They look like pieces of plastic on the suspension that contacts the track. If you look it up, its the 2006 attak RX10WL under suspension 2 and the part number is 34. Sometimes the microfiche picture says 31, but that is a mistake. 31 is for a bolt. Anyways, is Yamaha the only manufacturers of this or is there an aftermatket, since it wore out pretty quick??/

The term used by most on this and other forums for that component is hyfax. You can search using that word to find quite a number threads discussing replacement etc.
Here's one to get you started: http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ight=hyfax

What he is reffering to are not the Hyfax but the sliders that protect the track should it contact the upper part of the suspension.

Those are to keep the track from contacting the suspension and I do believe Yamaha is the only supplier of those sliders.

I'm pretty sure that will be a Yamaha part only?? I personally have never seen any aftermarket pieces for that.
Just an observation... The piece thats pictured above is a black plastic, whereas the ones on my sled are white. I have noticed very little wear on mine after 1700 miles, I wonder if there are pieces made of different plastics.

There are 2 white ones on the front W-arm and 2 black ones on the rear bracket. Yamaha also calls the hyfax, sliders and the rail tips, sliders. I have replaced all of the above. The hyfax and rail tips every season. What's with the rediculous price on the rail tips...more than a set of hyfax.

How come you replace the tips every season?

There is a wear line on those "sliders" on the suspension. I have over 6000 miles on my Attak and there is still lots left before the wear mark.

They wear. When you put new hyfax on, you notice a step-up from the tips to the new hyfax. Replaced them one season because I don't want that to get caught on a window. Tore them up when my W arm failed the next.

I purchased new "sliders" for my LTX this year (the black ones shown in the picture on the rear arm). They are worn down a bit and I wasn't sure if I could get another full season out of them. They're expensive too! I think I paid around $20 each from Port. The white sliders on the front arm are good, end caps on the rails are in good shape too.

The sliders will wear out quicker if you run tarck looser than spec...I`ve got 6500kms on mine and still in good shape.
Why do you think that. Track tension to (tight or loose) would wear quicker? Not disputing just thinking out loud.apltx08 said:The sliders will wear out quicker if you run tarck looser than spec...I`ve got 6500kms on mine and still in good shape.

When you run your track looser the the excess or sag part ends up at rear part of your track when you decelarate and end up rubbing on SLIDDERS this is what I was told by a YAM tech, same thing goes for HYFAX wear, to tight of a track will wear in the front bend and to loose will wear at the rear part...
