Crashed my 08 LTX gt and found a good deal on an 11. That has the EPS and motor updates. I read a lot about hyfax wear. Anything else? I was kind of thinking of a Nytro for something different but am having a tough time finding one I like.
Thanks

Great sled.
No issues in 20,000 KM on my 2011 SE [sold] & 2011 XTX.
Could use the Star Suspension Kit if you get in to moguls on trails much.
I have Dupont slides & Scratchers I use occassionly on my XTX. 11,000 km on my old 2011 SE & 8,000 km on my 2011 turbo XTX. No slider issues.

you will enjoy the sled once you set it up. mine has almost 13,000km on it and i fixed the slider wear in normal conditions by putting on oversize kimpex wheels. i run slydog realcools normally but tried the kimpex set up this season and the slides wear to a point then stop. the point they stop at i have put 7000km on them with no other wear other than ice conditions.

2011 is great sled I have 2012 and also am running oversized wheels. worth the investment. first set of stock slides 500 miles almost shot changed to duponts 3500 miles almost shot x wheels and stock sliders 3000 miles and counting plan to run them again next year I have duponts sitting in wait for when/if the stockers wear out and I had the skid out recently would have been easy to change then but they have so much life left in them I couldn't see the point.

Love my 2011 Apex. It's a lot more sled then a Nytro and I think you would enjoy it a lot more. The midrange torque and the exhaust sound is additive

For me the throttle response of the 2008 over the 2011 trumps power steering.

Interesting comment.
I found no throttle response deficiency in my 2011 or 2013 vs my 2006 Apex.
My 2013 is quite a bit stronger than my 2011 & both stronger than my 2006 by a fair bit.
Power Steering is the bomb IMHO.
Different strokes for different folks. : )

Don't get the nytro, the most needy yamaha . As in it needs so much work to get it half as good as a stock Apex.
Coming from a nytro and viper owner. Not to mention motor is all out of juice at 70-85mph in normal conditions.
I rode a 07 apex this year for 20 miles and to me that sled is a great trail sled.

my experience it this area was the throttle response was increased by such a noticeable amount on the 11 and up apexes that I wasn't even sure if I had touched the throttle before it started to take off. I almost threw myself off the back of the sled the first time I rode it. I went from a 2007 to a 2012. and power steering is the best!!For me the throttle response of the 2008 over the 2011 trumps power steering.

The power on the 2011 is similar to the 2006 model as the throttle is opened but the way it hangs open or lags when closing the throttle like vehicles with electronic throttle controls really bothers me.

???? hangs up or lags?? On the 2011 Apex?? What?? there is absolutely no engine lag or hang up when letting off the throttle, not sure what you are referring too. are you sure you weren't feeling the back shifting or the engine breaking?

It's an emission control which limits engine vacuum on deceleration by increasing airflow through the idle air control valve and it interferes with normal engine braking. Some don't mind it, I do.
Look up throttle hang relating to vehicles. There are thousands of complaints about it.

you must be a lot more sensitive to it then most Apex owners because i feel nothing like that. I bet with a clutch kit that would not even be that noticeable. i know the engine braking is less on the 2011 and newer apex but it's still there

he must be referring to the reduction in engine braking what he is describing is the exact way Yamaha went about reducing the engine braking. it was not in an effort to meet any kind of EPA standard it was to address a complaint many had with throwing themselves over the bars when they let off the throttle when standing and burring itself in deep snow. I like both ways never used the brakes on the 07 never went over the bars on the 2012. Either way it was to reduce engine braking and some don't like it at least at first once you get used to it not many complain.
