Anybody having trouble spinning their LTX track by hand?

I'll believe Mike but this this the 1st sled I've ever had that binds up on the stand. Like Cannondale I got rid of the extroverts. They climb the track but without them it doesn't happen. 1st sled I've ever run with extroverts. I've run 550 HP 1100 Cats on clay launching at 6000 RPM and didn't ratchet so I'm not worried about ditching them.
Boy your never satisfied! Lol!!

Regarding introverts vs extroverts i believe lead has nothing to do with the difference Never Satisfied and I feel so Mike is still correct. With the extros the drag of a sticky dry track has a tooth to climb onto vs intro which doesnt. Also these cheap extro drivers are molded. No Way within .010 accuracy and even if they are the extro tooth wears very quickly making the effort of the engineers pointless. Like I said when in snow and lubed I cannot feel the difference between the two and my results dont show it was worth the effort. But in my mind, clip wise and vibration and alignment wise I made the right move.
This is 6800mi original set. Too me it looks like the extros teeth were all that was driving most times and I run studs so track is fairly tight. You guys have way more power than me. Expect this way sooner. If want extros buy a good set like Wahl. Cat Extros are junk, clip eating Chinese quality. But they do work. Just not like they could if built right.

My original set was tweaked from the factory. Even being careful it’s hard not to distort them when installing. Now do it in a production line and anything goes. I know the guys at Hypersports true up every drive shaft after installing new cogs. They did mine when I raced and I never had an issue. Just can’t take much off.

I agree with the post above. I have seen pics where it looks like the extros are driving the track. Most of the time it eventually rips the clip area out and the track is junk. I really don’t know why they have these drivers on all the new sleds other than the 2.86 pitch spaces the lugs further apart and makes it more prone to ratchet if the track is loose. I am not a fan of the 2.86 but it’s clear the 2.52 stuff is going away. There is no benefit to us, to me it was a cost cutting measure. Less lugs on both sides of the belt means less cost to produce and sell them at a higher price. Market they are better but there is no benefit.

Funny thing is my SRX ratcheted way easier than Viper with introverts. Especially from a jump landing.

The suspension has a huge effect on whether it loosens the track or tightens the track as it goes thru its travel. Strap a suspension down to drag height and run the track tight and it won't ratchet with internal drivers, but a full ride height trail sled needs the extros to keep from ratcheting it seems.

I know when I had that 2009 POS turbo Z1 and 2012 turbo and studded them, they ratcheted terribly and had to have the track so tight it affected the ride quality with just internal drive sprockets.

I'm happy to see the extros under the Winder knowing it shouldn't ratchet. I'd be happier if it was a fully clipped track though. I haven't read reports of having to run the tracks tight anymore that Cat has added the extros. IMO Ski-Doo does the internal and extrovert combo sprockets the best.

They really do drive hard on the track and prove to keep the ratcheting at bay. I wouldn't want to run on just four rows of drive lugs without them.

Wonder why everyone went away from the four drivers on the shaft driving on 6 rows of lugs with internal drives like we used to run on them for what seemed forever? Internal drivers are much more efficient that using extroverts for sure, but still better than ratcheting all the time.

3000 miles on mine with intros and has not ratcheted even once. When it does will go half turn tighter on adjusters like I had to do on Srx more than once on Trail. Took 5 min. Don’t get me wrong I don’t advise switching since it didn’t gain me much but it has not had one single drawback.

Right, no offense, but its a NA Viper, it doesn't have enough power to ratchet.

Put 200-220 plus HP to a studded track and see how it acts without them.

Thanks again guys ! I feel a lot better now knowing that this is normal.

Hopefully mine doesn’t ratchet. I ran 2.52 tracks on my previous 1100’s and never had a problem without extros. If I do with this I will swap all of out to 2.52 again. Good thread.

My buddy with tuned 1100 Turbo has same track and drivers as me. Introverts with Ripsaw and never has any trouble ratcheting.

I have a fully clipped ice attack on my Winder. I didn't remember if my original 1 3/4 back country track was full clip or not. If a fully clipped track is preferable then why don't they all come that way? Is it a weight saving thing? Also I'm thinking the original track was two ply?

This is "free wheeling". Realy hard to do on an ARTIC-CAT. :hide:Looool

I'm not the least impressed. Just because it freewheels easy on the stand does not make it fast. That's the first first mistake.

You could take any one of my drag or speed run sleds and there was no way you would ever spin the track by one hand, it took two hands and a powerful grip to rotate the track.

Don't worry about these tracks binding up, its actually a good thing because they have enough lead built into the system.

You are entirely correct except that these Cat drivers are junk and wear very quickly. Merry Christmas Knapp!
