Anyone run snowtracker carbides on the sw

My tracker rep says the trackers improve the dual keel skis, but they do not deliver same results as conventional design on a single keel.
 

Definitely use your Cat skis and swap out the tuners, if not possible, because of timing of Sidewinder (your gonna absolutely love It !!!! This sled rocks !!! ) delivery go with "Curves" you won't be disappointed.
I pretty pumped i feel like a kid waiting for Christmas..lol
 
Looks like my viper might be sold before picking up my sidwinder! So i won't be able to swap the tuners for my 2014 single keel with snow tracker!
The sidewinder is a rtx (129") with those tuner 3s. I am a 100% trail rider! Anyone have any luck getting these tuner skis to rail corners if so what is you carbide set up!
What are the mojority of you aggressive trail rider running (ski /carbides)
I am debating on either swapping the tuners with my wife's 2014 zr 7000 ac skis and buying snow trackers or just buying new skis altogether
Thinking the tuners will be okay for my wife's zr! She doesn't ride too aggressive
 
I found that snow conditions and temps have a huge effect on snow trackers. I absolutely loved them on hard packed groomed trails in cold temps but hated them once the temps got warm and the snow got sticky. Riding in wet snow my sled felt like I was pushing a plow with them but when the snow was hard and the temps cold they were a dream come true and they did everything well.

pretty much exactly what I found. I recall how well they tracked without darting all over when the trail was rock hard with icy ruts. Then it came to usual soft snow conditions and ended up hating them. I also had to often stop trailside to unjam rocks that get stuck between the runner and outer blade.
One thing I've learnt throughout the years is skis are all about compromise where everybody has an opinion on what they are willing to compromise more. For me I absolutely hate push so I'll take any extra steering effort as a compromise.

Yep Joe...totally agree...lost 4pmg when it got mild with STs, I would only want these for the ICY rutty days, to help the darting, but other then that, I never liked them in any other conditions over a stock pilot setup which gives great MPG.

Could be why the are loved where they are made in QC where its much firmer alot more often, but with mild winters even now into central Ontario where I am riding, its just a slow down MPG killer, we actually would let off on lake and you had to hold on or you would get thrown over the hood they nose dived so badly.

Krazy right? I hated that 2012 ProCross so bad I didn't figure I'd EVER buy another Cat product. The 2017 is so far removed from the 2012 it's amazing its even the same chassis. They have brought it a long ways that's for sure. The triple Yamaha helped it a whole bunch too compared to the lawn mowing Suzuki twin.

It was tough with Me and I think Similar with Mike and many others, after the 12s....bad taste in our mouths for sure. I dont think I ever would own a true cat after 12, and mostly due to how I was treated on warranty items that never should have been denied.

But as most of you know, the 1200 doo(NA) only was going to do so much, and I did enjoy that sled immensely, and it did rock from stock then modded it up closer to 150hpNA it was a blast, and never a care in world for issues or belts ect...

The doos are so impeccably designed and built, they just shine in the fit n finish, so that is still somewhat bothersome to me with the SW, but after initial inspection, the red tunnel is better, but similar....its the hood and forward that is All new design pretty much, and when yammie powered this monster their design plan is so well layed out....it just blows away the 1100 turbo design, the heat is barely anywhere. Those two huge nose vents blow directly onto the turbo/muffler ect, and out....and the clutches, and out....so the whole heat thing is gone, these YAM clutches run COOL for much of the normal riding, and no more forward facing engine with heat out front, all cool in front and all heat out back, Yams original designing of the first 4 stroke performance sled back in 03 proved to be the best for heat, and other did not do that, and pay for that in underhood heat.

This is why that thread on DT in the spring when Yamaha and Chris Reid starting releasing all the info on this new 17 SW, made such a huge splash on DT...I posted just about every picture and spec over there that Chris was posting here. And Mike had a thread if BRP would ever match it with a turbo of their own. But nope, BRP is all about their 2s. Nothing wrong with that, but I bet they see how many DT 1200 members floated off DOOS and onto SWs for 17 and now 18...that XS chassies is dated bigtime now in seating position compared to the 850 and the SW seating. Its gonna be hard for them to sell 4s sleds if they dont innovate their 4s too, not just their 2s.

I would love to own a 850 too, but not alone....the SW with new shocks, is the real deal...the ride now compared to my 12 cat is not even comparable...its still heavy yes, but I pounded Toms thru the junk, which I could never do with my 12 with rock hard seat and floats are the worst shock ever, these new Qs3R all around are nothing short of perfect. I never knew a heavy sled could feel so nimble due to good shocks alone.

So I dont feel like this is a cat at all now...I feel like the Tcat is more Yamaha then cat, its just something about this engine under that hood, and the well engineered layout of the airflow...so many things to love here. Is it perfect? NO, not by my standards, and DOO is far ahead in fit/finish dept, along with POO is up there too, so a LAST place in finish, but alot better then it was in 12.....this red tunnel looks great, up close and all around....that also was a big bonus for me, quick release panels with no tools, LED headlight and SIG light, its all nice.....its so far ahead of a 16 cat turbo in everyway and the 16 was heads and tail better then the 12.

Will be very interesting to see what BRP does in next couple of seasons, if this SW keeps becoming more and more popular. That is the only thing that could sway me over, is a all new BRP turbo. But I highly doubt that day will ever come.

for now, this is gonna be best season ever for power and modding...

You might be on to something with the Quebec thing. I ride exclusively in the Val Dor area. And earlier on in this thread,I made mention of no lost in mileage with my snowtrackers.....But the trails are always hard ....could be why I have never seen the drop in mileage.This year I will be driving in the area around our camp in Burk's Fall. Maybe a RockerDan's pilot swap is in the future?

Me and a bunch of other friends around MN, WI and MI also ran the Aggressive trackers on the 1200 Doos as well and have never seen any MPG loss Dan and Dano speak of, and we have ran them for thousands upon thousands of miles and many seasons in all conditions, cold and warm. There are times they will push in the corners just like other carbides when the conditions are loose and soft, but 98% of the time they do what they are supposed to do and that is proved no push, no darting or tracking and easy steering. Twin keel skis will push easier, single keel skis push less.

The only exception to that is when the correctors get worn too far and don't touch the ground when riding very hardpack conditions, they will steer like a bear then and require the correctors to get replaced. If the correctors do not touch, they can't do what they were designed to do.
