I just bought...also bought the fleece liner...a little concerned about cold weather performance....kinda figured layering with polypropelene...looking for a good suggestion???

They are ok. You'll want to get a good base layer. Under armor is what I use, then a lightweight fleece. It's warm, but my choko adventurer(sp) jacket was good to twenty below with only a t shirt.

Go with underarmour cold gear, a fleece liner with windstopper. Good combination.

so just to clarify...got the race jacket(shell) and the zip in yamaha liner...
are you saying another fleece and an under armor??

or just the zip in liner, an under armor cold weather longsleeve tee and?

I have 1 year on the shell & flece liner..........it's cold to me......but then I'm a big puss when it comes to getting cold! LOL!

You will probably want to wear a sweater or heavy shirt over the armor on day's it gets to 15 d or colder.......but like I said.....I hate being cold.

Although I do look good on the snow! Just like a big Yamaha billboard!! lol.

GE ;)!

I have a few of the Yami race jackets.
My layering goes. Klim inferno shirt, Klim Fleece jacket, TekVest, Yami Jacket. For colder riders below 15degs, I now have a Klim Jacket with thinsulate. OH yah it has GORTEX :) :)

All the outer shell needs to do is keep the wind off you. If it can wick some of you persperation that would help. The insulation should mostly come from your under layers. This way you can add or remove layers as needed :) :)

so I assume an under armour cold gear polypropelene long sleeve,,,the yamaha fleece liner and the race shell will be good to like zero...below that maybe add a sweatshirt?

FLEECE or smoe other synthetic fabric. Or even wool.

AVOID COTTON!!!!!! Cotton we can rename it death cloth!! It retains 0 of itd insulating properties when even damp. Fleece can be soaked with water/sweat and still keep you warm. It also dries faster :)

I use one of the Team Racing jackets. I get cold if I wear the jacket +liner and just a t-shirt.

I found a combination that works well for me, which is: under armour + thin sweat shirt + liner + jacket. On single digit days I throw in a turtleneck between the under armour and the sweatshirt.

This is while riding an Apex. Last year I was riding a SRX and and I could go with less and stay warm.

thanks..it aint the single digit days...it's the -10 days that worries me!

I hear ya. I haven't had a chance to ride my Apex in below zero weather yet, but I suspect that my single digit remedy would work for that as well since I'm probably a touch on the warm side unless I'm cruising at 75mph for 15-20 miles at a crack.

One other thing that I have noticed is the Yamaha Team Fleece doesn't cut wind nearly as well as my Columbia fleece when worn by itself. I may go back to wearing that under the team jacket, but it's a minor pain since the collar is taller. I always had to turn the collar down and not zip it all the way to the top when wearing it under the Team Jacket. The quilted Yamaha liner may be the better way to go if a person wanted to stick with Yamaha gear.

I've been looking for the quilted liner...where to find?

I found it on Highlands Yamaha's website:
