Has anyone tried the Thunder Products orange spring in their Apex? What are your results? I installed one in my 2011 Apex at 60 degrees. I know in the Sidewinders the spring wrapped at 60 was too much and people blew belts including myself. I may wrap it at 1 and 3 and see how it performs vs 3 and 3. Just wondering if anyone has any luck in their Apexs

I have mine at 50 and gained a little top end

Ulmer clutch also with airbox mod and pc

I’m going right to 10900 -11000 then settles 10700-10800 with no adjustments
I gained 200-300 rpms on spring change, but I only have little over 800 miles still breaking in might have to adjust after couple more 100 miles

Ok I also have tp orange spring set at 3-3 I have a 06 apex with ulmer clutching and other mods just wondering what adjustment people was making with that spring had to put one in the heal and put the tip weight back in thinking I might have to reset spring to 2-3 I hit rev limiter at take off and corner to corner

Using too stiff a secondary spring robs you of clutch efficiency, therefore lost hp to be track. Ulmer spends HOURS testing on both the track dyno and in the field. If you’re running his kit I’d give him a call about running a spring which is that much stiffer than what he recommends/sends out with his kit.

This spring has gave me higher rpm but way better backshift less belt dust full shift no glace on belt and it pulls better than the silver, red ,and pink secondary springs Even with the higher rpm i think it will be even better when I get it dailed in

When you say “pulls better”, are you using any type of data acquisition, or a mule sled to test against? Seat of the pants feeling can be very misleading. Not trying to be argumentative. I’m genuinely interested in what you’re finding with this spring and your Apex. I love to play with clutching, but time, space, and opportunity to test actual results accurately make it tuff for me to do these days.

tested against other sleds apex, ski Doo, tested it in the same condition with all three other Springs the red and silver springs seem to over shift where the pink and orange Springs do not with the orange being better overall with a full shift out and better efficiency I Mark the primary to test that and the clutches are overall cooler with the orange. the pink spring does coil bind with the orange does not orange spring works better in all snow conditions

Real world testing.......the best!
Thank you for the info.
