I'd try these instead. Haven't heard too much about them here but it looks like solid pieces and it also eliminates the donuts and break prone bellows entirely. He even has a video on how it's done on the Apex.

And from another member:

At the end, they did mention problems with the clamps. Check with the vendor to see if they have since been improved. I'd still use this to eliminate the donuts and bellows entirely having gone through several failures on my MP and my son on his Phazer.

Make extensions for the ss rx-1 pipes.

i pulled a sled apart this winter that had the flange repair kit and there was evidence that they did not seal up.

Yeah, need to try and find a fab shop to make me a couple extensions for the RX1 pipes, seems like the better way to go. I did leave you a VM if you might have some SS take offs?

I had a batch of extensions made but sold them all. I just had muffler shop expand 1.5 pipe to slip over the stock ends of the rx-1 pipe. I can get some more made up.

Are the SS replacement pipes for the early Apex not available from Yamaha anymore?

Going to a local exhaust shop that does custom work this am to see if ha can do it, trying to get sled back on trail this weekend. If no luck I will call you.
Thanks Travis.
Any luck on just seat foam for my 11 Apex from WRP/seat concepts?

They still are, MBRP has a set on eBay for 388.00 and Port Yamaha for factory SS for 400.00 just trying to save some $ to finish out the season.
6 weeks left and season going fast, both time and $$$.
This is a back up sled, If my wife goes I ride this one so she can ride the XTX, and if one of my buddies needs to borrow, the 09 is there for them.
Also if I can use my RX1 y-pipes, this is the best solution at this time.
Might as well use them, been a couple years now and cops are not finding my RX that was stolen half torn apart while awaiting a replacement header pipe to arrive.

I installed this kit on a sled this fall. The most difficult part was making sure the replacement flanges were pressed onto the Y pipes exactly the same distance. I put the Y pipes in the freezer overnight and heated the new flanges and they were still very difficult to press together. Keep in mind I have a garage and basic tools, no special presses or machining equipment. I thought I nailed it until I went to install them and there was a slight variance between the two flanges on each Y pipe. I was able to get the clamp in place and finish the install with new copper donuts. The sled currently has about 1200 miles on it since the repair and no signs of exhaust leakage. However when the time comes to do this repair on my new (2010) apex I'll probably just spend the extra couple hundred and buy new Y pipes. If I had the skill and equipment to do the flange replacement perfectly it would be a hit.

It seems they've gone up. Early on they were discounted and under a hundred CA each. I know the last time I bought a set they were 135 CA each, that was a few years ago at least.

Used them on my Wifes Apex. Season 3 on them. So far all good. Easy install if you take your time. They are a tight fit, but alittle heat and cold they do work. Patience.

Yeah looking at old threads on the SS from Yamaha it was very reasonable a few years ago, like anything else inflation and strong economy bring prices up. Who knows maybe there is a huge tariff on them if coming from Japan?

I think Yamaha recognized using the TI pipes was a mistake, and discounted them early on to prevent those owners from becoming very cranky.
However, that doesn't explain why they went back to TI head pipe on the 11 and ups.

Is the 11 and up with EXUP TI ? That sucks, figured with my XTX the exhaust issues were gone.
