does anyone know what number tooth gear is on the bottom i was told if i went one bigger i would get a little more pull. Just not sure what gear to buy

Rove,

You can usually find what you need by using the search function. Here is a good thread on gearing.

http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ar&start=0

Instead of increasing the lower gear by one tooth I reduced the top gear by one tooth which has a greater effect and the top gear is less expensive to change.

The bottom gear on an apex is 38 tooth. The top gear is 24 tooth. Which equals a 1.58 gear ratio.

By changing the top gear to a 23 tooth, you gear ratio would be 1.65.

BTW on the Attak the top gear is 23 tooth already.

Not sure if you guys in Norway get something different but here in the US our Apex is 24/38 for short track and 23/38 for the long track.

From the service manual...

This is correct..

Yes they do

Part#s for a '06 Apex ER

2 8FB-47587-80-00 SPROCKET, CHAIN DRIVEN (38T) UR 1
2 8FB-47587-90-00 SPROCKET, CHAIN DRIVEN (39T) UR 1
2 8FB-47587-00-00 SPROCKET, CHAIN DRIVEN (40T) UR 1

So I just got an 06 RTX, would it be beneficial to go to a 23? Kinda sounds like it. I'd loose a little top end (not that I care), but gain a little bottom, and mid? Correct? The smaller the top gear, the more bottom end, correct? And is the 23 kinda a comfy medium then? Or just kinda works better in general?

Yes you are correct, even a 22 would do fine but then you would have to change the chain as well, from a 70 link to a 68 link. With a 23 top gear you would NOT have to change the chain.
