I just purchased a 2006 Apex 121"with 13,000 km, so I have been checking it over. I decided to pull the secondary off and check/ grease the jackshaft bearing. On closer inspection, I noticed a nut spinning around on the shaft on the inside of the bearing and a threaded collar next to the bearing. My question is, is the collar part of the inner bearing race, or separate. I tried to thread the nut on but the threads are screwed up enough the it won't start. Can the bearing be removed without damage to remove/replace the nut. Looks like someone has replaced the bearing already. Any help please.

If you look on the micro fiche you will will have to order them both. I am sure they are both messed up since it was pounding around on it. I just did one of these and bearing, locking collar and inner locking race are all separate parts.
Part 19 and 18. If the bearing is good you can just replace them:

Can you get the nut and sleeve out without taking the shaft out.

I just looked at the fiche again and I think the nut was put on backwards.

It easier to pull the entire shaft with the bearing and then knock it off. It could be done but it wont be easy the other way.

The sleeve should come out but there’s no way of getting the nut out unless you remove the bearing and like Mrsled said it’s a lot easier if you remove the shaft.
Search the site as you will find step by step instructions on how to remove the shaft, it not that difficult to do with basic tools.
I’m pretty sure I have 2 brand new inner locking race and nuts, if you pay the shipping I’ll be happy to send you a set, I upgraded to a newer apex which has a different bearing and I have no use for them, plus it will save you some $ as they are not cheap..

Found the link to replace it. Just have to gather up all the parts before I attempt it. Thanks for all the replies.

Just an update on the jack shaft bearing. It popped right out except for the bur from the last guy. The threads on the nut were almost totally worn off from riding around on the shaft. all back together. A question. is the secondary suppose to float a bit on the shaft.
