I'm switching brands from Polaris and was wanting to know if anyone has any experience with the new apex ltx shocks. Are they good quality and easy to adjust or is a guy better off going with the electronic rear shock?Trying to make a deal on 1 tomorrow and trade my modded 900 fuze off on one.How are the apex's on belts? Will this sled come close to 115mph on gps when on snow?Thankyou guys and hope to be riding a new yamaha next week.

To me the standard HPG aluminum monoshock is just fine. I am going to take a wild guess and say it could be cheaper to rebuild down the road.
Ironically in 2006 the std shock really was better, had some wire break issues and some harsh bottoming that did some damage on the higher buck GT models
However if you want very easiest on the fly dampening adjustment, the electronic shock is valuable and previous issues appear to be solved.
I would say 115 GPS wont be a worry.
Guys are having very long belt life, dont remember seeing a single complaint about that!

belts what are them?jk. normally i buy one belt a year and install it at the beginning of the year and thats it.Yamahas for the most part dont use up belts. As for the shocks Im not sure on.For speed i would say you should be able to hit 115 on good hardpack.Ive seen some @ 120 plus on radar on ice.You canr go wrong on a yammie.best of luck Shane

Thanks for the reply Tork.I really hope this apex ltx will hit 115mph on the lake with gps.I'm coming off a modded 900 fuz and just want to beable to do the same speed with alot less headaches.

I have an '06 Attak (LTX is new name for it) with the manual adjust shock and love it. I've had zero problems adjusting it. Just reach down by your foot and turn. Honestly, I prefered this over the electronic just for the simplicity on a new model year. Wasn't sure how the wires and everything were going to hold up. From everything I've been reading on here they seem pretty tough, have only heard minimal issues.
I'm about 215 dry and have few problems with bottoming and handling on the stock set-up. I really can't compare with most of you guys because I don't have the groomed trail system. My riding is mostly back-country trails and rivers, so It's quite a bit different.
Coming off the Fusion I don't think you'll be dissapointed at all. Get it set-up for your size and style and you won't be sorry. One of my riding buddies has the 900 Switchback and I could hardly keep him off mine once he got a taste of it.

Bashley I weight the same as you.I have simmons flex skis and a new 136x1.5 intense track for it also.Yeah I can believe that your buddy doesn't want to get off as Yamaha has the best sleds in the business as far as I can see now.I ride with every new sled on the snow and the new Yamaha's beat every manufacture except in weight but I really don't care as I ride hard packed lakes and do alot of lake racing.

118 GPS here, I think I'll top that this year with some Stealth technology. Belt started to shred on me at 2100 miles after a long day of running in the rain the day before before and various SHORT water /slush crossings on and off lake right before it shredded. Funny thing is the belt was still there pulling but the threads were flying out from under the hood - I noticed when I came out from lunch.

1.5" track and possibly the Simmons ski's are gonna slow you down a little vs the stock track and Ski's..
109 MPH, GPS is the best I have seen on my wifes Apex GT. However that is on snow, not ice and the sled is bone stock.
An Attak [LTX] should not have a problem with 115 on ice with proper set up. You may have to wait until it is broken in which takes almost 2,000 km.
I change belts every 8,000 km or so just cause I figure I should. The 8dn is a tough belt. Some guys go softer for drag racing. but for normal riding and longevity the 8dn belt is tops.
Pretty sure you will be happy with your purchase.

I have a 08 ltx with 1.5 ripsaw and simmons flex ski's
it dose slow it down, but ive seen 120(spedo) on plowed wood's roads
and will probly go faster. Im still breaking in tho so dont wanna push it too hard. + i haveno problems stop n go in 2ft of soft snow.
I will be changing track soon tho. I think 1' or 1.25 \w pick's would suit me better
