Alright, not as basic a question as it may seem, but when pulling on your track to measure track tension, with a spring scale, is it 22lbs on EACH side, or is it 22lbs across the entire track. I've seen on here where people put 20lbs on the center of the track(thus distributing the weight across both sides evenly=10lbs per side) and measure, but looking at the manual, it looks like they are applying a spring scale to either side in a track window of the recommended 22lbs, to measure deflection. Would I need 44lbs in/on the track then? I ask, as I believe I am running my track a little too loose and it is costing me some top end, from perhaps rubbing on the tunnel protectors. I did tighten it up a little and noticed on the lake that I gained a couple of mph. Best I could get on a long haul was 109mph. Just want to keep embarrassing my buddies new 800 Axys.
Thanks
Rick

I run my track loose to the point of it skipping the clogs (it hangs down an inch off the sliders). check out my previous posts before I s/c'd my sled. i'd see 127.6mph on radar and 142mph on the speedo. if I tightened the track i'd start to lose speed.

I've found exactly opposite to you - tight if fast, loose causes track to ballon and slows me down.

I would believe that because most people only have one spring scale, the authors of the manual expect you to hook one scale on whatever clip and side you are looking from, and pull 22 pounds. As far as your application for top speed goes, tighten a half turn both sides, at a time, and make a run and compare the results.

let's try this out! maybe i'm wrong! are you guys coming to the nbssr event in Dwight? i'll set my track my way and we'll check the speed. then i'll let you set my track how you guys usually set yours and i'll run it again. let's see which is faster, sound good?I've found exactly opposite to you - tight if fast, loose causes track to ballon and slows me down.

You can do what ever you like it doesn't really matter to me but why don't you ask some of the professional racers and see what they think.

Are you getting 127 on a stock Apex?

I did multiply times before I supercharged the sled. according to these guys I would have ran a lot faster if I would've tightened my track, lol.Are you getting 127 on a stock Apex?
when it was brand new and had less than 100km on it, the sled ran 119.1mph on radar.

What did you multiply? Your speed x 1.13 (our ontario sales tax for those not local)
It's not according to us guys...its according to physics.

right, if I would've listened to the laws of physics I would've gone faster! What did you multiply? Your speed x 1.13 (our ontario sales tax for those not local)
