Apex vs 800 Etec

So i was thinking. All these Doo's talkin smack about us Apex's. I think we should start opening some cans of wup #*$&@ on them. Im feelin every time i meet a Etec around and destroy it ima make a video to show them how the apex rules the lake and the trails. What does every one think? Lets show them whos boss.

I dont care that much, its more about riding and having fun, a little smack talk is a given. Although I can never get anybody especially on a doo to race me???

I was going across a lake once around 120mph and came up on a doo that was doing about 100 and I slowed to see if he was a buddy of mine and he sort of sped up and I realized it wasn't him so I casually went back to 3/4 throttle and passed him and went on my merry way. Next stop up the trail a guy came in and saw my sled and was shocked how fast I was going and that he was WOT and he couldn't believe I could pull away like that, I didn't have the heart to tell him it was 3/4 and I didn't know we were racing LOL

Well 2 out of 3 of my riding buddies(former yammy owners) blew the $hit out of their Etec's last winter... and the 3rd is wanting to sell his. this in itself is good enough for me.

I was seriously considering buying a Doo but instead bought a 09 nytro. Main reason for not buying Doo is that I didn't want to be replacing pistons every season!

Its too bad they have problems(800 e tec's) if in fact they doo cause the sled has everything else. If I did not have my apex I would have no problem owning a 1200 X doo ...I will say they ride way better than Ive been able to get my RTX to ride. Could be my next sled if yamaha woun't get it together and make a real proven rear skid....We yamaha guys tend to stay with them cause the rest of the sled is so darn nice and live with the one or two things that would make it flawless if done better(especially the rear skid)I think they have the ability to get it right! hope they read this!!!

If the apex hooks up then it will beat the 800 e tec but otherwise no hope. i raced enough of them with my xtx apex last year. And its back and forth racing.

My business partner has a XP 800 that was setup by bikeman..

It can flat out embarress my apex.. it litterly runs away from my sled like it has 25 more HP.. Its a pretty nice sled.. It can trade wins with a well setup Mach Z all day long..

Its not an E-tec though..

My 800 Etec was untouchable by any N/A apex or nytro last winter on Head Lake In Haliburton where a bunch of guys run. One of the guys claimed to radar at 120 mph the weekend before.

To say one of these sleds beat another by rule of thumb would be silly IMO.

When push comes to shove I would say drag race adv.- E tec; Radar adv.- Ape

My 2011 Apex SE Box Stock vs various E-Tec 800's that I think were stock but some may have been clutched ;

Soft track less than 600 feet, E-tecs always beat me.

Medium or hardpack over 600 feet, never lost to an 800 E-tec.

Don't pick a short soft track and you will never lose stock VS stock based on my experience. 2011 Apex's are fast once broken in.

Ok,so all you now to doo xp sled riders getting out of your e-tecks for top speed,only list radar or gps,there speedos are off too,i know i had there 08 800xp,and i did everything i could to get the sled to break 115 gps,best it ever did 113 bare ice 1/2 mile,my old 06 apex gt bare ice 119 gps,ya 1" track,but all set up trail riding.

See the thing that yamaha does is they build the sled around the motor. All starts with the heart. Everyone else builds motor around sled. IMO you start with your strengths.

ski doo is quicker... to the junkpile! yamaha is a far superior sled over all sleds... years down the road all the rest will be recycled.. but the yamaha will still be running the trails...
