APEX vs. MACH

That is not the same results I have seen. Plus, if you watch that video, the Mach light drops a few times like he is letting off the throttle. The coming season will tell, but the Mach will beat the Apex on top end. To the C-note is is close however, stock to stock. In the races I witnessed, the sled that got the jump would lead until the top.

I agree drifter you nailed how I feel. The MZ is the undisputed top end lake racer. The Apex though is among the best performing sleds available anywhere and we have the 4 stroke advantages. Plus we can go NOS and forced induction if we want to be the fastest. Doing that to a 2 stroke more or less make it into a grenade, waiting for the pin to vibrate out :(

Bender has a turbo kit for the Machz. There working on getting 300 hp out of it. There working on a new pipe for it because theres too much back pressure now. Nos can go anything. The Machz give you the option of porting, cans, and pipe for way less money then a 4 stroke. Either way your starting at 149 hp and the machz your starting with 175 hp.

Nope, pretty much every magazine states 165 hp for last year's model, not 170 hp claimed by Horsepower King. But then again, Horsepower King says it is now close to 180 hp while they state the actual number at 175 hp, so I can see how they would be 5 hp off from the starting point. Until we see actual dyno results, it is still 165 hp.

Horsepower King not a person. It is a article from Snowtrax.

It doesn't matter to most of us on this site, how much horsepower or how fast the mach z is.It is still a big bore two stroke,if we wanted one of those we would have bought one.

doothedoo, I have noticed that all your posts are basically the same.
you are trying to play to an audience that after a test ride, or 1-3 seasons on a Yamaha 4 stroke, this group of guys would not go back to a 2 stroke sled unless they were forced to at gun point.

Skidoo has had how many years to develope a design that ends up being the HP king????
In 3 short years Yamaha 4 strokes are nipping at your heals from very close range.
If top HP and top speed are all you are in the sport for, and you have your blinders on for every other aspect of a sled that makes a sled great, all I can say is enjoy it while you can. :D

Skidoo is not at the end of the game with there sdi, the DI is waiting in the wings. Why would they change? Last week they had the most wins at haydays, they have been winning snowX for 3 years and and have had over 40% share of sales.

I am sure when that day comes, if they can manage to set the world on fire (vs their engine compartments) by dropping the 's' we will be following their progress and wishing them well. Meanwhile posting redundant info over and over is boring. Again we know about Sno-X and percentages of sales. This group is more interested in riding great snowmobiles vs any sort of bandwagon. Again, wrong audience for what you are trying to accomplish. :?

With all this talk about who is faster or has more horsepower, I really don't care. My sled may not be the fastest or the coolest, but in the 5000 miles I have put on it, I've changed the oil a few times, faxes and belt once, a few bucks in gas and I'm happy and ready to go. Having a trouble-free sled is the only way to go.

Exactly how most of us feel. The fact that the MZ we are finding out is not all that much faster than the Apex is just frosting on an already great cake.

SDI or DI, it does'nt matter it's still their un-reliable two stoke that will blow up in 5000 miles or sooner. Sorry to tell you 500 ft is not long enough for a race. It should be 660 ft like it is up here in Canada. I believe the results would not be the same. Doo was winning sno-X cross races for years, not just the last three and not really because of the sleds, but they always had the best drivers in the series on their sleds. ie. Toney Haikonen, Chris Vincent and Blair Morgan, plus in combination of their head chief mechanic George Sherrard for all three of those drivers. I believe you don't have enough experience in sledding period to start lecturing us in ski-doo's racing career.

And if Im not wrong Polaris won the Pro Stock Championship this past year in Sno X. Whats funny is they are just now trying to get the Mach Z to make 300 hp and live when the Yammi family is doing the same thing but making as much as 500+ hp. Thanks for joining the party!
