Was about -30c and fired up the Apex GT, ran for a few minutes then it was like I lost 1 or 2 cylinders and was struggling to stay lit. After about 30 seconds it died and won't start (farts a bit when cranking but thats it) any ideas ??

Any error codes on the dash?

Sounds like the well known fuel relay problem where it gets some moisure inside and freezes. (Do a search on fuel relay for more detail)

There is a bank of 4 relays under the hood near the left foot well.

Often times it will get iced up and you will not hear the injectors fire proerply.

You are suppose to be able to take the relay out and warm it up in a pocket or try tapping on it.

I wish I could give you more information as to the exact location but from researching on here the results vary as which position of the 4 is the actual fuel pump relay. Some say closest to tunnel, 2nd closest, and I have heard furtherst from Tunnel. I think it just depends on the year, model, and the persons building its mood!

Hmmm, thx will explore that, it was in a heated garage for a month then out in the cold overnight. Warming it up again to see if it will fire up.

I rarely use it so it sits and collects dust in my heated garage for the most part, goes out in the cold once and I while when I rotate one of my other sleds into the garage to work on them.

5,000km or 3,000miles

Now that I think about it last time it was outside it would not start period, had to warn it up overnight. Maybe it is the relay !

If its firing at all that means that u r getting fuel. When u turn the key on u should be able to hear the fuel pump run and then shutdown. If u don't hear the pump running find the relays behind the plastic panel above the left footwell. When u turn the key on u should feel the relay click, that is the fuel pump relay, remove it and warm it up reinstall and try it again. If hear the fuel pump running and the engine is sputtering, trying 2 start the plugs could be fouled. If it is getting fuel and not starting u should be able to smell fuel at the exhaust.

Good luck

Relay will click and fuel pump runs but it almost makes a gurgling sound like it has air in it, cranks a lot with nothing and then spits once and a while. Maybe gas line freezing ?

Did u determine which is the fuel pump relay? If u did take one of the other relays that have 4 terminals and interchange it with the fuel pump relay. The relay with 5 terminals is 4 the headlight Hi/Low, one is 4 the radiator fan and the other is the starter relay. Try that.

Sounds like to me you simply fouled a plug which if it has been sitting around it is very possible. Start simple and just check them before getting into all that.

With it coming out of a warm garage it could be water in the tank. How much gas in the tank. Put it back in the warm garage and see if it fires up.
Nice pic from Gimli, let's hope we are racing this year.

Easier to check the relays than it is to check the plugs. Relays can be accessed when u remove the left side panel.

1/2 tank, put some iso in and will try it in the morning. Would think if it is a fouled plug would get some action on the good plugs ?

Whats the word on Gimli, are the drag racers gonna kick us out ?

Corner 1 baby, oh ya. What class are you racing ?
