I've done mine 2 times so far. Actually I tore it down 3 times because I had a 10mm Olive green bolt left over. I can't figure out where it belongs or came from..

The 3rd time was to check to make sure I put the battery tray bolts back, head light pod 10mm's too.

The only 10mm Olive Green coated ones are the headlight pods (4) and down on the tray area. (2) right?

I feel stupid.. I put 100mi. on the sled since and it seems fine. I checked everywere for a missing bolt but cant find anything. I more work to it than just the oil filter change but the wolts were near the headlight pod were I layed them out. :o|

Post us a pic of it and we'll try to locate it for you... :-o

Sorry for the bad spelling in last post . I lost my reading glasses but I'm back on track.

The bolt seems the same one as the 10mm head Dark Olive Green coated ones used to hold the head light pod to the frame.

How can I post the pic? I've got a nice Cannon I'll use.

I have the Ulmer relacation and it is sweat, you would have to really hit something head on to threaten this.

I have over 29,000 miles on my last 4 sleds and have never bent a front bumper in the 3-4 inches minimim needed to threaten this. So I am not worried if you plan on keeping the sled sure makes oil changes a breeze.

How long have you bean running this set-up and have you had any issues so far. Is anybody else running with the re-locator set-up?

I'm seriously looking to add it to mine to, but someone was telling me it could drop the oil pressure so I'm kind of on the fence...I have warranty for 3 years and I wouldn't want to VOID it.

The other thing to is that YAM reccomends us changing the filter every 20.000kms and the oil every 4000kms, I don't know about you guys but I'm not a big fan of changing oil and leaving a OLD & DIRTY filter on!!! its like talking your bath in someone else DIRTY BATH WATER...I ALWAYS change my filter but what a pain to take her appart :o|

I have about 3 thousand miles on the sled after the installation of the relocation of the filter kit.

I have no way of knowing what the oil pressures are but remote filters have been used widely in many other engines. The oil change and filter change are now simple. The quality of the billet aluminum housing and the oil lines is fantastic.

I will do it again to any Apex I get

Just my two cents

Thanks for your input, could you post PICS when you do your next oil change of the set-up, I know it fits in the front nose...I do agree it must be a BREEZE to make a oil change afterwards... ;)!

So I take it when you install the remote filter assembly you can't use the nose bag anymore. I haven't done an oil change yet on mine but the remote filter looks real nice.

this is my first apex . 600 miles and have to do my first oil change . where is the drain plug?

I continue to use my 'nose bag' and it is not even tight. I suppose if I were trying to stuff it full there may be an issue. But with gloves and jumper cable it is not a tight fit

2 plugs to get two. 1 at bottom of oil tank on right side. 2nd one under motor. You have to take the plastic panel off ( hex bolts) then the Hex head on bottom of motor.
