:dunno: Anyone else get that sick taste in tour mouth when you run across the Arctic Cat stamps and stickers hidden all over your Vipers , im not bashing here but it sure feels alot less like a Yamaha every time i see one ..
 
Its not a yamaha (other than the motor)
Honestly. Being a joint venture makes the parts more readily available.
Cat or yamaha will have them.
Thats quite possibly the biggest bonus you can get. You can find parts in an emergency.
I really dont care whar it says on the part, at the end of the day i just care that the sled suits my needs

I have a highly credible source that says Yamaha came to cat in 2008 after the tsunami hit Japan, the srv/pro cross chasis was designed by Yamaha, agreement was that cat would have it the first 2 years 12,13 then Yamaha in 14 and on, don't know about you guys, but that sure gave me confidence in my sled and future production.

The Japan tsunami was in 2011

I understand your just passing on information you were given by a credible source,
but that justmade me laugh out loud
If you are familiar with the way yamaha has been building sleds for the past 12+ years, there is an ever increasing amount of diecast aluminum involved in every chassis.
In this viper chassis there is virtually none.
If you are familiar with cat then you know they use the cheapest of the cheap screws and fasteners.
This chassis is filled with wood screws/ selftapping screws.

Everything i have heard or read tells me that the mini 120 sled was the first combined effort between the 2 companies.
That project led to the supply agreement for the viper / 7000 motors.

If yamaha did finally design a chassis that has been proven to win at the track, why are you the only one that knows that info? I would think most major mags would have a little scoop on that.
Makes absolutely no sense to me.
My personal opinion is that whoever told you that story was either fed a line, or just wanted to give out a story that built up consumer confidence

Your probably right, either way I liked what I heard, so I passed it on to get more opinions, and like I posted in another thread, you gotta rattle someone's cage to get some sort of response.
 
Sure would like to see a nice Yamaha casting replace the sheet metal bulkhead. But it works and is dirt cheap. I agree definitely not a Yamaha design. Ever seen a Axys naked? Really nice castings all over it. That sled feels as narrow as a street bike. Hope Yamaha goes that way next year.

I agree.
With yamahas casting technology and the use of adhesive bonding just like polaris is using, yamaha should be able to build a ridgid chassis that is light weight and high tech.
Some of the castings yamaha has used on past sleds are enormous.
I see plenty of room for improvement
 
Already seen a failed polaris bonded chassis....not impressed

Ya, your right, if 1 fails they all will fail. Lol
same as the guys hating on cat yet own one with a different sticker lol...then complain about it....I prefer to live outside the realm of bashing or hating on any brand without cat the viper wouldnt be and we all know this chassis is worth it. Like wise i wouldnt have any other 4 stroke non turbo engine
