well as mad as i get at my nytro sometimes. sliders, greasing bearings, hard reverse. adding skis and yamaheater.a frozen relays. it allways gets me home. my son is a yamaha/mercury tech, has a 09 vector gt and a 2007 rev 440 chassis with a 800 ptech in it. he went riding up north this weeked with all his doo buddies. here is the break down. 2007 with 800 p tech, took a belt out ,wraped around crank and took out seals and a bearing inner. out comes the motor. his best buddy 2005 800x . same belt and crank seal plus had to install a new front sup aarm the day before the ride. 2005 600x sdi, higher mileage but! motor down, rod through crank. 2005 500ss went down due to snow dust and piston siezure. my son had his 09 vector gt. 26 below . had to boost it but away he drove. every thing has plus and minus to their designs. i would rather fix small things other than motors.

I remember back in the day when Rotax made reliable engines. I beleive that changed in 99 with the mx600......

My father just had a engine burndown on his 94 rotax 470.
That was a good engine for sure. Those new sleds not lasting one single season... Now that is something different.

my rotax problems as follows. 2 1997 mach z motors. rods, 2004 mxzx 800 pto seals and bearings. 2005 mxzx 800 piston and rod. motor was on back order as they where at the same time telling me it was an isolated instance. told them to call me when it fixed and bought a 2006 apex attack. been on yamaha since.

Let me clarify; reliable two strokes. The current 4 strokes they offer have been pretty good.

x2 Series III engines are junk... Rotary valves engines were very good. Case reeds (mach Z tripples were 50/50 split) 4tecs 1200 are very reliable...

I have had a cat that I put 2 motors in, and a 04 mxzx that I have burned down 2 sets of pistons, a crank seal, crank, and a base gasket. And mind you that all of these repairs were seperate. Once I did the math and added up all the repair money over just the last 4 years on the doo and the fact that I basically put a motor in it in the middle and end of each season I found that I had already bought a yamaha and just never got it. So I dumped it and got a nytro and from what I am reading on the site it looks like I can put the repair money from the 2strokes tward mods for the nytro.

Funny timing for your post. We trailered all the way to sprucewoods today and when we got there my Nytro wouldn't start. After the starter solenoid was determined to be the problem I used a screw driver to jump it and I was off. I think I've had all of the problems Nytro owners are nagged with but you are right, they are small things compared to pulling motors.

code 12 crankshaft position sensor

more on revsters problem. Just so others are aware, revsters machine came up with a code 12. After some phone calls to various dealers - cudos to Wildwood yamaha - explained that because the starter solenoid was not working properly it threw the other sensors out causing the code 12

Revster, could you share with me and others your trick for starting your nytro with a screw driver. I would hate to be in the wilderness, or complete darkness, and not have my nytro turn over. Could you post a pic or at least describe how you jump start your nytro with a screwdriver. Thanks man.
