Asphalt Results 2004

hlmrx1 - I have been usually hitting the nitrous after the 60 ft. mark, but have tried it off of the line, and that does not work. I had big problems where the sled pulled hard to the right or left, but that was when I had the RX1 shocks in. The SRX suspension with SRX shocks helped out big time! I also moved my foot location to the rear of the tunnel, instead of the foot wells. This helped keep me straight, but still spinning when nitrous is engaged. PRO116 and I came up with having the limiter straps sucked in so there is only a 1/4 inch - 3/8 gap between the front torque arm and the rubber snubbers. Mid shock is set loose with only 8 threads showing past the lock nut. The rear shock is set soft also with 6 threads showing. Front shocks are SRX tightened to the max setting. Hope this helps.

Terry, crank up the pressure on your middle shock for using the NOS. It will help you with your traction issues! When you hit the button with your shock on loose preload I'm sure it's collapsing the front arm on the suspension which is causing the front of your track to loose contact with the pavement! Give it a try, I'm sure it'll help!

srxspec this set up sounds more like a grass set up? My set up uses the rx1 stock rear with the front shock loose and the limiter straps redrilled to shorten them to suck it up far enough to lay down with the sxr front end shocks.
60 footers are an issue with me. This year with the turbo the best 60's are a low 1.6 Next time out I'm moveing all the wheels to the inside the rail and adding an extra 4. Maybe this will help. I did'nt know that a srx rear spring would work to lower the travel.

1xr, you must use the whole SRX rear shock, not just the spring to lower the ride height. I think if you can have someone watch your rear suspension as you launch of the starting line you're probably having the same issue with the front arm compressing and loosing traction on the front of the track.

Ok guys here is the latest…
Went out for a test-n-tune with the CPR-Turbo Warrior last night (Friday). and made some gains, but found out that I still have a bog (sp?)at the low end due to carburetor issues. I’m slowly figuring it out…

Here is the best run of the night on 8lbs of boost:
60ft = 1.440
1/8 = 5.991 @ 114.86mph
1/4 = 9.529 @ 135.50mph LaLaLa
:-o

I will figure out what is going on with this carb issue. It’s not lag, it’s a bog and it’s related to jetting or carb adjustment. Most likely it is something simple like last year with the SRX, and it’s most likely my fault… But, I’ll get it…

Anyway… I may get out this week before the big Pro-Sled Asphalt Shootout in Cicero, NY that is being promoted by Mike Hills.

Looks like this is the TY Team so far:
SRXMAGIC – ProStock SRX 780cc
NOSPRO – Stock RX1
Zucco’s – ProStock 700cc
--Bustert696-- - CPR Turbo Warrior
(Matt H./BBY2000 will also be there with us...)

If any of you can make it to the race I’m sure it will look like Camp-TY/Camp-Yamaha when we are setup… ;)!

Thanks,
--Buster696--

buster, that a great time and speed!! you get that bog out of the sled it is realy going to go. ;)! now i have the slowest of the mod sleds. :( i better get that 9.5s soon. :o|

Do you think it's a lean bog? Do you think it might be related to clutching? To much weight for the preload of the spring your using? Maybe to much helix? Just guessing.

Hi Everyone - Went to W.I.R. Friday, for some suspension changes. Went looking for 9's, and would have run a high 9, but spun off the line. Let middle shock out a little bit, and tightened spring.

Temp was 72 degrees, with 32% humidity. Track temp was 106, and wind speed was 6 mph tail wind.

1st run - Nitrous run - spun off the line, and hit the rev limiter 25 feet before the finish line.
1.537 60ft. - 6.304 1/8 mile @ 108.545mph - 10.070 1/4 mile @ 126.119mph
(If you do the math, I usually run 1.46 60 fts., plus I hit the rev limiter. 9.96? :? )

2nd run - no nitrous
1.472 60 ft. - 6.977 1/8 mile @ 96.153mph - 11.193 1/4 mile @ 113.702mph

3rd run - Nitrous run
1.556 60 ft. - 6.393 1/8 mile @ 107.127mph - 10.159 1/4 mile @ 125.156mph

Saturday Races - Cancelled again due to rain. No loss in points, and no gain. Still 1st place! :D

Are you finding an improvement with loosening the front skid shock and are you useing 24-38 gears. Must be out of gear at around 1100 feet.

Hey 1xr - Yes, definetly out of gear, but 23/38 works great for low 11's @ 113mph. I am finding out loose is working better. I know it didn't come up (transfer) as good as it did before. I will go loose again for the Pro-Sled shootout.

terry, need more gear!! i have a 24t that you can use at the shoot out, and they will have nos refills at the track!! bring the credit card. ;)!

buster, great job on the 9.5, maybe you should modify your stock exhaust cannister as per my specs, and run it, i think your bog will be gone, and it will be quieter than stock. the free flowing exhaust can your running is screwing up your carburetion. the rx-1 turbo in the video has a stock modified cannister and it has no bog, thats the only difference between our sleds. jeff

Hey, nospro I noticed that the front of your skid is pulled up as much as possible to lower the front end. You are using an srx skid frame, right? Jtssrx had suggested that I remove the front shock totally on my stock rx1 skid, is that what you did to your srx skid frame. I had my skid out this week and removed the back shock instead, :o| that doesn't work! So I put the skid back in and strapped it down at the back to get it lowered. What happens if I remove the front shock totally, does the front end collapse completely. I don't really want to take that skid out again, it's a pain to line it up again to get it back in. How did your srx skid frame go in, did you have to drill new holes, etc.?
