Well, I thought I could get into the low 11's like Nospro, but just couldn't this past weekend, humidity was pretty high and temps in the 30+ and traction seemed to be a problem. Nospro, do you notice any difference doing a full burnout vs. going around and just spinning it a bit on dry asphalt? I can's seem to come to any conclusions on this. Well here are my times, best time ever was a couple of weeks ago when it was cooler out, 11.328.

Saturday test and tune, after the first four runs I switched back to my stock clutch, didn't seem to do much until that last two runs, so we'll blame it all on the driver, (me).
1st run – reaction 0.689 - 1.725 60ft. - 8.316 1/8 @ 86.119 - 12.891 ¼ @ 105.189
2nd run – reaction 0.785 - 1.769 60ft. - 7.446 1/8 @ 90.729 - 11.901 ¼ @ 106.712
3rd run – reaction 0.571 - 1.592 60ft. - 7.314 1/8 @ 91.120 - 11.810 ¼ @ 105.268
4th run – reaction 0.470 - 1.569 60ft. - 7.510 1/8 @ 90.607 - 11.918 ¼ @ 107.922
5th run – reaction 0.686 - 1.702 60ft. - 7.483 1/8 @ 91.619 - 11.911 ¼ @ 107.599
6th run – reaction 0.567 - 1.637 60ft. - 7.309 1/8 @ 91.278 - 11.709 ¼ @ 108.832
7th run – reaction 0.544 - 1.061 60ft. - 7.196 1/8 @ 91.521 - 11.607 ¼ @ 108.470
8th run – reaction 0.567 - 1.657 60ft. - 7.236 1/8 @ 91.917 - 11.610 ¼ @ 109.444

Sunday, still stock clutch, 3rd run we tried without the air box, sputtered all the way down the track. Changed the secondary from 60deg. to 40deg. on the 2nd run and left it the rest of the runs, will go to 70deg. next time out.
1st run – reaction 0.578 - 1.556 60ft. - 7.143 1/8 @ 90.784 - 11.583 ¼ @ 106.744
2nd run – reaction 0.513 - 1.576 60ft. - 7.226 1/8 @ 90.922 - 11.657 ¼ @ 107.679
3rd run – reaction 0.591 - 1.672 60ft. - 8.512 1/8 @ 64.345 - 15.574 ¼ @ 69.334
4th run – reaction 0.686 - 1.558 60ft. - 7.126 1/8 @ 91.732 - 11.526 ¼ @ 108.152

Elimination Runs
1st run, dial in 11.50, ran against a bike, he was way back so I hit the brakes and he was coming up so fast I almost blew it, win margin was .055 (whew).
reaction 0.532 - 1.582 60ft. - 7.123 1/8 @ 91.788 - 11.667 ¼ @ 92.326

2nd run, dial in 11.50, the other guy (rental car) red lighted before me, again (whew),
reaction 0.209 - 1.573 60ft. - 7.169 1/8 @ 91.468 - 11.642 ¼ @ 96.887

3rd run dial in 11.50, got a bi.
reaction 0.692 - 1.577 60ft. - 7.128 1/8 @ 91.545 - 11.554 ¼ @ 107.429

4th run, dial in 11.50, I got trigger happy against another rental car which had a 4.7 second lead, I still beat him to the finish line and he broke out, man did I blow that one, could have had the trophy for that day, oh well, this is only my second time that I run in the eliminations.
reaction 0.464 - 1.567 60ft. - 7.219 1/8 @ 91.206 - 11.780 ¼ @ 103.329

Rpm's are running at 9600 and climbing to 9900 or 10000 and toping out at that, my HC clutch runs at 9800 and climbs to 10000, I'll have to try and remove some tip weight and see if I can improve my times!!!!
Will have to miss this weekend as I have a previous engagement, but the blown alcohol funny cars, the "Wild Bunch" will be there on the August long weekend, so I can't miss that!!!

Sorry Guys, I will do better next time. 3 red light races in a row, it has to stop somewhere!

Hey Ty - I will try your rollout idea. I don't need much.

I feel better now, that I chewed myself out! I just know I could have done very well, at Syracuse, and at W.I.R. Saturday. That is what burns me. Going to attempt some clutching this week.

Terry, reaction time of .000 is perfect. Here at Viking Dragways .500 reaction is perfect and the Super Pro is a .400 light. Doesn't Wisconsin International Racewar an NHRA track and is that not an NHRA standard?

hlmrx1 - Depends on the type of track. W.I.R. is an IHRA track, and their computers go by .5 & .000 reaction times. Goofs someone up once in awhile.

The nines are still a dream for now. On the weekend I went testing during a sport compact car event. Got lots of runs but no 9 sec pass. Sat the best run was 1.645 60 foot, 10.07 et, and 133.92 mph. 60 foots suck and that one was the best of the weekend. Sun. best run was 1.678 60foot, 10.10 et, and 135.12 mph. Lots of speed with 10 lbs of boost. But I think I'm still running out of gear with 25\38 ratio. Everyone that was use to good 60 footers did'nt have them, they blamed all the honda's with street tires takeing all the rubber and the track compound off of the track. I wish I could be bragging about a 9 sec pass, maybe next weekend.

Here is the latest:
Got to the track with 72deg temp and about a 8 to 10mph headwind. I thought o-great’, no 9.5’ for me today. As many of you know I did not have a good run at the Pro-Sled-Shootout. In fact I mad some very bad moves and I blame myself for that… :o|

BUT, lets get to tonight. Again, with a head wind I pulled the sled off the trailer and ran a 9.50et @ 136.9mph… LaLaLa I said, ooohhhh… we might have a good running sled tonight. The wind increased a little so I went and made a change here and a change there. And all said and done, here is the night’s best run (all other runs were in the low, low 9.5's):

60ft – 1.43et
1/8mi – 5.91et @ 115.56mph
1/4mi – 9.48 @ 136.59mph

The sled is still at 8lbs of boost and I couldn’t be happier. Even though I lost in bracket-racing heats (2nd round btw), I’m glad I could get it back and move forward. I’ll be making some more changes the next time out to see if we can get it even lower…
:4STroke:

Way to go Mike!

Saturday, 7/24/04 - temp was 70 degrees, with 28% humidity. Track was 123 degrees.

1st time run - tried a different helix with a stock (unmachined secondary)
1.500 60ft. - 6.904 1/8 @ 96.274mph - 11.135 1/4 @ 113.852mph

2nd time run - shread a belt at the finish line
1.526 60ft. - 6.966 1/8 @ 95.963mph - 11.192 1/4 @ 113.163mph

3rd time run - Was allowed due to breaking the belt in.
1.554 60ft. - 7.015 1/8 @ 95.319mph - 11.260 1/4 @ 113.083mph

1st round - Thought the glaze was gone from the belt, and temp got cooler. Dialed 11.21 (couldn't run the number)
1.566 60ft. - 6.999 1/8 @ 95.401mph - 11.255 1/4 @ 113.105mph

I dropped to 2nd in points now, with only 1 point separating 1st and 2nd.

hlmrx1 - Sorry I missed your reply, I must of overseen the question. If I do a big burnout, or a dry hop, it seems to help with the big one. But when I get into the water box, I think I am picking up lots of water on the tunnel, and dumping it on the track. I have been doing more dry hops now.

Matt - I will call you later.

excellent job mike. 9.3s will be a reality when you get your 60 ft time in the 1.3s jeff
