I could use some advice on my 06 Attak. The sled has 6400 miles and has begun to backfire periodically. I'll get just a single low vol pop when I chop the trottle every once in awhile. Other than that the sled runs and sounds fine. No funny sound at idle and no drop in performance. I'm wondering if the donut gaskets are beginning to go or if maybe I have an injector sticking.
Anybody ever run into this?
Thanks

I'd be worried about the exhaust donuts - seems to be that backfiring is one of the most common symptoms. From what I read, Yamaha might give you some rhythm out of warranty on the parts, but you might have to pay for the labor. Also, I'd be afraid that if failed donuts goes on too long, it damages the Y-pipe. I'd get it looked at.
Do a search here on TY4 for "donuts".

My 03 Rx did that. It would backfire only when I would blip the throttle, it didn't mater if I was on the lake running hard & let go for a second & get back on it or if I was in the trails going slower. Any time I let go of the gas & hit it again this would happen.
If this sounds anything like the way your sled is behaving all I did to rectify this was disconnect my Tors. Not a single backfire after that.

It's not too bad of a job if you have decent mechanical skills.
There are tons of guys (and gals) here that can help if you need it!

All doughnuts were shot, thankfully no damage to the Y pipes. She's back together and I'm heading out tomorrow to put some miles on.
Thanks Guy's

Man you are lucky. Me not so much. Glad to see it worked out and you got to the problem before it destroyed the Y-Pipes.

I'm not sure if I'm lucky or not. Sled is still backfiring even after replacing the doughnuts? It no longer idle's rough nor can I hear air or smell any exhaust. All doughnuts were replaced yet it still gives a single muffled backfire as I slow down. It doesn't do it all the time, maybe 30% or so.
Anyone have an idea as to what might be wrong?
I ran seafoam in it thinking it might be a dirty injector and maybe that would clean it out.
I'm confused on this one.
Any help would be welcomed!
