Just went for a awesome 250 mile ride , parked the sled and the next morning my sled would not turn over. Took my RTX in and have a blown starter and crank sensor. What kind of starter doesn't last 5000 miles? Anyone else have a crappy piece of #!^# starter die with this little mileage on it or should I not be surprised? I can't even say anything good about my 09 RTX anymore.........

Your starter relay probably stuck and burnt it out. Did you try jumping the terminals to see if it would roll over at all?

I had the same codes.

Replace the starter and the relay. Easy peasy japanesy.

And dont worry about the crank sensor. That code will go away once you fire it up again.

You can get a aftermarket starter for about 120 dollars on ebay.

for everyone the starter burn out has happened to. I have listened to my starter spin down after starting for a few years since people reported a problem. Could you not hear yours?

 Got a great starter for you on e-bay.........

I have the same problem, turn key and click, jumper the relay and nothing happens, no spark, doesn't turn, nothing. is there a how to remove starter post somewere? been looking but no luck finding. I must be using the search system wrong because every time I punch in nytro starter eveything under the sun shows up.

When searching, be sure to click the "search for all terms" option. That way, you will only get posts that contain both "starter" and "nytro". That yields about 131 results.

Did find this post from the Nytro FAQ's for troubleshooting:

Thanks mooseman I also found that post but did not show how to replace starter.

You might have to try and find a copy of the repair manual but there should be somebody here with the knowledge.

Remove skidplate, remove two 12mm bolts holding the starter.
Remove the two front engine mounts.

Have a friend help you and use pry bars to flex the engine so you get enough clearance between the heat exchanger and engine for the starter to pass.

If you have a swaybar, you have too loosen the subframe to get enough space to get it out.

Good luck.

It was the starter relay stuck open that burnt out the starter.... how would you tell? you can not hear the starter turning when the motor is running. I think I'll just change a cheap relay every second year instead of an overpriced starter...if I didn't like the 4 stroke so much I'd by something stinky with a pull start.
