My sled has a bad vibration was only at higher speeds now it’s starting at lower speeds. I took everything apart chaincase oil was pretty dirty but everything seemed fine in there. The only thing I found was the set screws on the bearing by the speedo sensor where missing. Driveshaft would slide around inside bearing could this cause vibration?

It sure could. Have you checked the bearing itself? Other things to look at are all the wheels in the skid, jackshaft bearing and the belt.

might need a new shaft. you can try to put new set screws in it and see if it goes away but it might have spun enough now to not centre properly again.

what does that mean ''might have spun enough now to not centre properly again''
like shaft bent or drivers moved?

no i think he means the shaft might have spun at the bearing (separate from the bearing) and caused wear on the shaft since the sets screws were missing and not locking the bearing to the shaft. which in turn means you can't position the shaft in the proper place because of the wear

Yes what sGauthier said. The bearing material is harder than the shaft material.

what do you mean slide around? drive shaft left to right, or shaft smaller than bearing and moving like that?
