Decided to create some heavy duty shafts to replace the stock aluminum shaft which has a few faults in the design.

First off some people have actually bent the shaft. To address this my shafts are made from a 304 stainless.

Second, the stock aluminum shaft is prone to wear from the center shock. I experienced this first hand on my Sidewinder and Yamaha denied warranty replacement. The 304 stainless will have more durability against wear.

Thirdly, the stock shaft is secured with a long through bolt. Longer bolts are prone to more stretch over time. They will torque fine initially but over time as bolt stretches it will loosen up. If not detected the rails get egged out and results in a more costly repair. The BOP shaft is drilled and tapped on each end and does away with the long bolt.

Nice fix Travis!

Finally there is one you can buy, i had a friend who owns a machine shop make me one out of stainless with bolts like you have done. i broke my stock one in half in northern Maine 140 miles from where i was staying, was not happy with the stock shaft.

I will get this up on website later this morning and post a link. Retail will be $55.

One other thing I will note is cat does offer an RR version of the shaft that is made out of steel. The downside is that it still uses the long through bolt so it is still vulnerable to the bolt loosening up.

Do you sell an upper shaft similiar to the RR?

So there is a front upper and lower shaft replacement??
