Maybe I'm making this harder than it needs to be.

I need to access the battery and remove it from my 07 Apex. I thought all I had to do was remove the headlights and the airbox. I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to remove the airbox. It looks like you have to loosen the clamps on the 4 air pipes, but not sure. It's really tight in this area with just removing the headlights and I can only loosen one of the clamps as the rest are at an angle where I can't get to them.

Someone please tell me how to do this.

You need a long shaft Allen wrench, I think #4. Then use that to loosen up the collar on each of the 4 boots. Once those are loosened, then just pull the airbox off. The battery is right below it.

You'll need a long 4mm ball end allen wrench. It's much easier with that than a standard end allen wrench.

Take the 4 10mm headed bolts out that hold the headlight bracket on then its easier to get to the 4 bolts on the air box and the vent hoses.

Removing the airbox is the easy part. I wish I could figure out an wasy to get those damn boots back on! Use WD-40 and loosen up the clamps as much as possible, but it is still 15 minutes of wigglin and cussin trying to get them where I'm convinced they are on without any gaps or pinched rubber.

take the top half of the airbox off and you can fit the boots in easier and tell if they are seated.......most peoples prob is they don't loosen the clamp off quite enough.

as above take headlight braket off (4 10mm bolts) remove top half of air box to reinstall. and i like to use a little vasaline on the boots... doesn't hurt the rubber and keeps it lubed.

Thanks for all the tips here. I will have to pick up a long shaft Allen and try that. I will also remove the headlight bracket to make it easier to get in there. I'm glad I read about the WD40 to get it back on now, I would have been back on here asking how to put it back on.

As always, thanks a million, great info here.

Good Luck, I've changed a few batteries over the years as well as oil filters and while it gets alot easier the more you do it I still don't look forward to it.:drink: Replaced my son's 07 RTX battery 2 nights ago and was cussing and swearing by the end, especially when I lost the 10mm socket down in the engine and couldn't find it :o|

Love my Apexes but oil filters and batteries suck! :letsnow:

My odyssey is not cutting it on cold days.
This one is under 2lbs and has more cca's.
Buddy said they work fine in cold temps but it gets effected by the cold just like any other battery.
