Ok, I am still confussed on what I should do.
Also, should the belt be messered while the secondary is on or off the sled.

I measured mine while it was on the machine . when they did the reverse update they must have added shims that were not there from the factory as the belt streched it sat down in the secondary a full 2 mm below flush, when I removed 2 of the shims i had no reverse and even had to turn off the machine and restart it to get the forward gear to engage. I added i shim back in which brought the belt up so it was flush with the top of the secondary . That solved the reverse issue and really crisped up the exceleration out of the hole.
so therefor; belt below flush .. not good
belt above flush .. not good
belt flush .... good
Unless you can add a 10 or 20 thou shim from an AC as mentioned in other posts on the subject that seems to be the best setup using existing Yamaha shims.

Well mine it and 08 rtx (mean: GS belt). The seconday is of the sled right now and ready to be cleaned. I just want to get everything takin care of befor it all put back together. When the clutch ws on the sled the belt sat very slightly below the sheave but now since its off it sits very very very slightly above. I am thinking the crap inslide the helix could be the problem.

and with what and how to polish the helix?

I used Mothers to polish the Helix. With such light twist on the secondary its real hard to get a true belt hieght since it wants to go down on top unless you just let off on throttle or best bet is to just take belt off and set it in there.

I read somthing about using sand paper, and then wax. So I take it, all I need to do is use break cleaner to remove the crap off the helix and then use car wax?

Yup Brakeclean and then Polish it with Mothers Aluminum Polish then clean it real well again.

Thanks Cannondale! I was not sure about the belt becaues the manual and you sourcing are 07, just not possitve if the 08 model is to be sitting above or below the sheave and the stock GS belt.

If you have the GS belt and no reverse I would go about 1/16 above. With rear of sled in air the track should slightly turn at idle or with just a slight pull form hand.

spec is 1.5mm above to .5 mm below. you showed specs for an 8dn belt which is shorter than the 8gs and 8gk belts. trying to adjust to use a short belt will be hard at best. i beleive 8gs belts were spec'd for 07's and 8gk for everything newer (phazer that is).

That should be the other way around shouldent it. My 08 phazer RTX came with the GS belt.
This is most puzzaling! I have my belt and secondary off the sled. I put the belt on the sheave's and it is siting above the sheave, then I put it down. I come back with a gage and calapers, pick it up and now it is sittting below the sheave. I cheacked the belt and seeing how it has only 100 mi on it it should not be worn. messered the same all the way around. I did the cheacking severel times; it being inconsitstint, some level, some above, some below. I will clean the clutch tommarow and see what the problem is.

Page 1 has specs for GS belt. The GK belt I cant find the specs for anywhere.Do you have them?
Thing is we dont know what or when they changed the belt, shimming and possibly even the center distance. So when you go to the dealer it is very likely that you will get the GK belt which supercedes the GS belt. Then your troubles will begin for sure.I spent good $ to have my RPM's where they belong with Ulmers clutch kit and the GK belt change raised rpm's by 500rpm.
