I flipped belts inside out to show wear on the ridges. There are black scuff marks in bottom of secondary. Top is new middle is new with 100 km bottom has 500km. Is this a spring issue, need different position or different spring? Its a 97 vmaxx 700 but uses same clutches and belt as 4 strokes. Center of primary is shiny and smooth so I cant see it causing it.

scotch brite the clutch faces and i would leave it alone. not seeing anything that worries me in the pics but not a top shelf expert.

I didn't notice it at first until you pointed out the nubs. That is odd.

Ya all of them worn off, if primary caused it I would think it would only be in certain spots when sled stopped and was idling.

Mine's the same. New belt after a bit of wear had this and it squealed at idle. I think this is because the belt is a little too tight and wearing the top of the cogs on the primary at idle, which would explain the squeal. I adjusted my secondary a little to drop the belt lower and the squeal is gone.

Check your secondary for the three bolts that adjust the clutch sheaves. Mine were worn down from pounding on the metal piece opposite in the clutch. I found this thread on how to adjust it and the bolt it shows looks like new. Mine were worn and had no non-threaded part at the end. I took my shims off to make up for that wear but eventually it wasn't enough and the belt was riding too high. If your bolts are worn down, you'll need to replace them.

@musselmark check out this particular post from the thread Mooseman posted as it appears to show the same signs of wear.

It was noted that this can happen when the belt is too high in the secondary sheave; that the inside wear can be from the belt being way too tight of belt deflection.

On a FB group a fellow explained that if belt is too tight it happens on deceleration when primary opens up. All cogs rapidly are forced over the center of primary and wear evenly, I never thought of that.
