Bent spindle housing what do i need to do to fix it?

Help,anyone bent housing but not spindle? Now i am not sure that my spindle is not bent as well,but it still steers very good,even w/bent carbide,from precision skis,any comments would be a help,and does anyone know if ther is an alignment rod i can go get to set alignment,and how does one set the alignment? Thanks Pete PS very rough weekend in jackman. :?

If your careful you can staighten in a pess depending on how bad its bent.
Make sure you check a-arms , bolts that hold housing to a-arms and bolts that hold a-arms to bulkhead and bushings . Rode mine last year with all this partially straightened as everything was on back order. If a-arms are bent you might want to consider aftermarket and loose some weight. Spindle housing was not that expensive from dealer. Just set handle bars straight and adjust skis with about 1/8 toe out (measure distance between skis front and rear make front 1/8 inch wider). hope this helps

Hi pinball,i havent checked out the spindle yet,but its good to know i can straighten it in a press,but talked to a dealer who said they do have a rod to send thru the spindles to check the alighment,do you or anyone know what size the rod is? :shock:

rod

its the same size as the bolts that hold the skis on, use a caliper or just a ruler.

mnm...if it ends up that you need custom fabricating and welding, I could and have manufactured many different kinds of front end components. I have a full fabricating department and could probably help you if this level of repair is required. Just check the price for replacing it first so we at least know that the repair will need to be below the replacement cost.

I also have a friend in Maine who is an excellant fabricator. Call me if you want the name and number.

I can tell you the spindle housing is $196 retail! Plus the cost of the spindle and bolts. They want almost $7 for the upper bolt. I really wish I didn't know this!

The billet spindle housings are $450 pr. US money plus shipping.
I will have a price for the billet spindles themselves later today.
