Best bang for buck

My 17 Ltx Le would run 125-126 speedo, on GPS was 121-122. Now that's on good running conditions hard pack with snow/ice sections. My 17 did have a 1inch track on and some minor clutching.
IMO these sleds rock even in stock form well mine did lol. Yes a boosted sledt would get me but that's fine. Mine also wasnt a belt blower either. I am really hoping my 20 ltx le is as good

My stock 2017 LTX LE SW has been at 122 GPS on what may have been perfect , revs ,ice and temp conditions .
My now 240 boosted SW has not seen 122 , and may not have seen the same perfect conditions , and may be a few 100 rpms lower .
But it sure gets there faster, with the flash and the helix update from Yamaha !
I may get the SS 240 flash , for the trails.
I still run the 8JP , and other than dust , it performs well.

Yeah I could not remember if my 2 bar Max Spool 16 (First Version)did show the boost numbers on the hour meter of the stock pod. But yeah I now remember my boost numbers at 15.9 - 16.1 with 2 bar version and last season with 3 bar tune numbers were higher, high 16 - mid 17. Thus 3 bar can read higher numbers for more accurate fuel map??

My reason for wanting the newer 3 bar version:
My understanding was that the older version compensated for not being able to read the proper boost at higher levels, by adding extra fuel, whereas the newer 3 bar version does not have to add extra fuel because it can read the higher boost levels.

I could not just add the 3 bar to my old version, I was told that if I wanted to do that I needed the updated tune. So I did!

What kind of hp numbers are expected with that 2 bar Max Spool with the TD Header?
Is it expected to run leaner or richer? And can you use lower octane fuel with it?
I was going to just change to 3 bar but was anxious to try out with header. Had i known the winter would suck with no snow and no riding i would have taken the extra time to change it. from what they tell me is the header spools noticeable faster than stock manifold and TD was very supprised how much stronger the sled felt with the header. TD was thinking close to 280 with header, i cant give you any riding feedback because there is no snow to ride on. TD told me i would not have to go to 3 bar because i would not be over 17# boost but if i am going to be right at 17 or so for peace of mind i will just buy 3 bar map and have the flash updated. hope they don't come out with any more improvements on these tunes, keeps costing more money. they also said min 91 octane

Hey thanks for all of your info.
Yes snow is lacking here also after what looked like an early start to winter. Ha Ha, yes to having to update tunes again if they better it again. I love the single tune because of how I have the need to have spot on clutching rpm wise, but with single tune, updates are not free.

So that header allows for quicker Spool and more hp but still needs 91 octane min with the Max Spool 16 tune. Got it, Thanks!! I have seen comments on some of his bigger tunes, that with the header less octane is needed. Just a lot of new info to keep up with since I first got my first single tune a few years ago.

If you decide to pull the trigger on a TD header you may want to call Mike or Ben and ask what their current lead time is. I ordered mid-November and they were at ~3 weeks for the header. I literally just got my box of rocket parts yesterday... They could have production ramped up by now though. Good guys over there.

yea i got mine a few weeks ago, ordered in September. its on the sled, just waiting for snow

Nice. Any installation do’s, don’ts, or cautions you have?

Not really, pretty strait forward, take the sled apart to get to the header, i did change the plugs while they were in the open, went to CR9EK, one colder than stock. you need an offset box wrench to get to the lower center bolts to turn them 1/4 thread at a time, there in a tight spot but that's the only slow down on the install

The ecotrail with stock exhaust is 230HP not 240. So maybe 25 HP more total. Clutching will be a big help. Wondering thoughts on this and mpg.

Ok now that 1" track does make a huge difference in top speed, compared to the 1.25,thats why you were able to run 121-122 gps speed, and ice is a huge friend to good speed numbers, but no matter what, those are still great numbers,i bet they do change some when on lose packed snow trails.

I haven't bought the above yet. Just thinking that may be it for best bang. It's in the high 700s for flash and clutch with stock exhaust

Any TD tune will give you better fuel milage, now my EVO stage 4 tune also improved milage as well, maybe they all do,so far on this yamacat those are the two tunes i have had.

Thats a great deal, and w/stock muffler no fish cop problems.
