Yes it mars it slightly, i believe the instructions say to have the bolt and hole at the 6 o clock position when changen a belt out so any shavings fall down and away, this was very minnimal.Does the bolt that screws into the helix to spread the sheave mar the helix at all or is there a metal washer that goes between the helix and the tool for the bolt to go against? Thanks![]()

I keep a large flat washer with the bolt in my tool kit and put it between the helix and bolt to prevent this

Some riders said some of the adjusters marr the helix as the bolt that screws into the adjuster contacts the face of the helix , others say there is issues with a metal washer that floats arount in there messing up the threads. I opted to called Turbo Dynamics and discussed their belt adjuster. The person I spoke with said they upgraded their adjuster by incorperating a metal washer into the plastic spacer. I ordered this one because the plastic spacer won't harm the helix and the sheave splitting bolt has something solid to contact that won't float around. Will give it a try. Thanks everyone

Oh wow... My adjuster is 8 years old so I really never looked back to see if there was changes. Some riders said some of the adjusters marr the helix as the bolt that screws into the adjuster contacts the face of the helix , others say there is issues with a metal washer that floats arount in there messing up the threads. Well worth it to be able to remove the belt without the concern of doing any damage.
And having a loose washer in there was obvious to be a problem thus the need for change. Nice update, ranger.

Thanks Doc. The main reason I got this thing as you know, it makes it soo much easier to fine tune the belt deflection. I like to set it so the track just starts to creep when on the standOh wow... My adjuster is 8 years old so I really never looked back to see if there was changes.

Long wrench on that 14mm bolt. Turn clockwise and push in on the Helix. That will twist in even the most nasty spring to get the belt on and off. If you're still having trouble make a wedge shape block wider than the width of the belt and slip it in between the sheaves at the 9 O'clock position once you have twisted the helix in clockwise.
