I truly believe they hire most of these reps locally the day before the shows start. If the know that snowmobiles ride on snow they figure they know enough to man a booth.
Agreed!! They know they just won't tell you, play dumb is correct! They say what they need to, to sell the sled. And they only know the good things!
That maybe the case, but this lad seemed to be the real deal, a Canadian district service manger, Very sharp. A friend of mine who is a second generation power sports dealer , says he is the one he called when modifying clutch parameters on a customers Viper. He helped him dial it right in, saved him a lot of time.
Ask your dealer to lookup the muffler part number and see if it is flagged with a new number replacement. That should be a good indication.
It is a new part number.

There is a communication breakdown somewhere. I think for the most part their job is to get the sleds sold. So...at a snowmobile show I would assume they are instructed to play dumb on any issues. On the flip side...I find it odd that many of these "snowmobile reps" have limited knowledge of the product. I run into a good one here and there but for the most part they are very limited on what they actually know of the product/snowmobile.
MCApex44 I agree! I was at a 2015 Yamaha sled revealing lately and personal seems to be very uneducated. They tended to walk away when ask about issues. When Reps give the runaround there surely not going to hire anyone that knows anything or shows any negativity towards the product at the show. At show they had a 15 Viper Ltx- Dx. Had the small cd size bag. I informed them that there website and all brochures show the sled with the large tunnel bag. The guy said I have idea. Surprise.

This was brought to my attention by someone very knowledgeable about the muffler separation issues.
The ecu could be injecting excessive amounts of fuel and a large amount of fuel gathers in the muffler that eventually ignites causing the muffler to separate.

Yes, see my post asking if the people with blown mufflers heard any backfires.

Just like on the forums talking tech can bring out big arguments with TWITs so don't expect Yamaha to send tech people or talk tech at any of those displays. You can though sometimes pull a rep out of ear range and talk tech if you can show you know what you are talking about.
I still don't have my sled back, going on 4 weeks now. Anyone have any good advise? Very frustrated at this point. Best winter in Michigan and i have sat on the sidelines for the past month.

I would suggest an aftermarket can if you can run one where you are. If you cannot find one we might be willing to sell our stock muffler and buy a can to replace ours. If you don't want to spend the bucks for an aftermarket can it sounds like you have to wait as bad as that sounds.
