On my 2007 phazer Gt, There is a black Plug in the cover left of the gas tank cap. Is that for aux power source? If so, below there is a electrical 2 wire plug that is capped. Is it a keyed and fused power source? Looking to wire a garmin gps unit into it. Thanks, Will

Yes it is for you accessory plug and it is fused..

I hard wired my garmin gps pilot4 right into the plug. works perfect. Also got a dash mount for it and mounted it on the riser with a homemade bracket. Sweet setup. :)

Nice, just got a new lid w/ electric shield- was just gonna go off the battery for power.

Good to know now ;)! :rocks:

The actual Yamaha accessory plug goes right in there, but it's not cheap. I think someone found a third party DC outlet that fits in there.

I ordered the Yamaha part, I would bet it was something like $60. I can't remember, but it did come with a cigarette lighter to RCA adapter for heated shield plug in.

I run my GPS off of it, and it works great. Easy to install. A buddy in my office found the yamaha outlet at Als snowmobile used for like $30 or so.

Good luck!

Hard wired versus 12v outlet:

I think mostly it depends what your planning on doing with it. Also do you already have the cig 12v cord? if you do you would have to buy the hardwire cord... For me it was only ever going to get used for my GPS so i hardwired it rite to the plug and zip tied it to my bracket, never to be removed.

I run my GPs off the 12 volt plug. Never had a problem. Plus I can switch adapters to power my video camera if needed. Hard wiring the GPS would be nicer but I like the flexibility of the outlet.
