Boost down again!!!!! on Powderlite Front Mount

Thanks a7m266d and lakercr that was the problem, and probably was causing problems since I installed it last spring. Dave you guys didn’t know about this when you sold me that pipe last spring????

Well anyway I did end up tightening the wastegate rod to get the boost back up to 10lbs. Not sure why that would be other than what Ted told me on the phone and that is that the controllers that come with these things are usually for 8 to 10lbs. unless you specify different, so I should probably get a different controller made to run 10 to 12lbs.

Now we went out today and did about 160kms and this thing has never run like this, it just rocks, as a matter a fact my rpm hit 11000rpm on 10lbs., something I hadn’t seen with even 12llbs. of boost before. So now I guess I’ll have to add weight to the tips of the weights. The other thing I have to check is that I think it has a miss in it at idle. I might try the plugs first and see if that clears it up.

pipe!

the pipe failed here too!! ( on my sled)

over the weekend i got not hit over 11lbs :o|

we just pulled the pipe off and yes it failed!

we are calling all of our clients to tell them about this!!

Lucky you made it that long mine went on the first ride out. Since my redesign with lakercr's help I have over 1800 miles now trouble free. Sure does suck trying to trouble shoot that one. AFR's look perfect but they don't want to rev or make boost.

Like I said, mine was probably screwed right from the get/go and it just got worse and worse over time because, my boost and rpm was pretty much dead on all summer, now that I have that #*$&@ out of the pipe, I see 11000rpm immediately when I nail the throttle and the boost is right there. Is it the heat that cause this thing to expand to the point that it blocks or it's just made like that? Why is it even on the inside other than to help the flex joint stay together?

PIPE FIX!!

OK!! just as I was ready to go dump out,

I found a new flex pipe that looks like it should work??

I can not see why it won't??

I will post picks in a few mins of the old pipe and the new one I found!

still have to do a little cutting and welding but we should have it running in a few hours!!

John a Ball and socket works very very well plus eliminates all possibilities of a failier due to a collape. Use 3 heavy exhaust springs and have fun.

as you can see by the picks the new pipe does not have the weave like the other pipe does!

you can see just how bad it caved in!!

not 100% if this new pipe will work or not ? but it looks good!!

JAMIE!! did you ever try this type of pipe??

I will run this over the next few weekends and see!!

John the flex you have there with the weave looks exactly the same as mine did. The flex you have looks very promising. I just did the ball and socket after one weekend. I jerry rigged mine the first time by cutting the flex out and welded in a solid piece to survive the weekend. Then just took Daves top section put it in the exhaust machine and put a ball on it. Then socketed the other end of a mandrel bend. Welded on spring tabs and we were off.

Jim from BPE gave me the idea.
