Got my vk540 on sunday. First started it, it sounded like it was on one cylinder. Though maybe its just a new machine and it sounds different than my viper. However tonight it starting making a popping sound and when i got home i checked and sure enough one side had a fouled plug and the other side plug was dry. It literally has 8 miles on it. The last time i had a two stroke ski doo go on one it literally caught on fire.
I didnt have any extra plugs so i will get one tomorrow i just dont want to screw something up. Also, the oil line/gauge has no oil in it even though the reservoir is full.
Frustrated and need advice thanks

most likely fouled a plug at start up, it happens when new. As far as the oil wont move much oil in 8 miles. You have a warranty? Was this dealer set up? Maybe take it back or call the dealer.

Yeah it was a dealer but the machine has to be flown here bc i live off a road system. Its not that the oil isnt moving its just that there is no oil in that tube that shows the level.most likely fouled a plug at start up, it happens when new. I found a primer helps a lot. I put a youtube video up on how I did it.
You may need to slightly tune the idle mix to be slightly richer.
Always carry spare plugs. BR9EYA.

i tend to use br9eix in all my 2 stroke sleds as they are anti fouling.
got a buddy with similar issue on a vk 540 III he bought used. put br9eix into it and it is better but still doing it on the one cylinder and been doing it since new. single carb and he has replaced the coil and plug caps on it with no improvement. has over 2000km running like this. would like to know the fix if there is one.

I called the dealer. They said that mixing the gas during the first tank will cause the plugs to foul. Also, said to drive long distances during break in period. Hopefully, that was my problem. We will see.

Im 300 miles in and have gone through 16 spark plugs, even tried those br9eix. I notice it happens more when i drive short distances to work or to the store. No troubles when im 20 miles out of town.

Is your oil pump adjusted correctly? Is it consuming a normal amount of oil?

At the carb. Pull up on the oil cable. Measure the gap between the end of the cable jacket and the metal sleeve. Where there is bare wire.
This should be 25mm.
You should be able to feel the oil pump stroke adjuster springing back when you release the cable.
Check these out for some potential causes for your fouling.
