break in period

Here is my .02, when I purchased my RX1 new, I babied it according to the manual. It just about killed be to get the 500 or so miles on while my friends were out having fun. It drank oil like there was no tomorrow. Yamaha fixed it, but still it was a pain. I have not heard of anyone having any issues with oil consumption when they rode it like they stole it. You be the judge.

Good thread...2012 XTX sitting in the garage right now! This is only the 2nd "toy" I have purchased new. The 1st was a 2006 Yamaha Kodiak that I rode the ever livin **it out of from the get go. It is still in my garage, and I have never put a wrench to it other than to change the oil. Still has the stock battery! Hence the 2012 XTX purchase........Dependable (at least I hope)!

I can see that happening if you used Synthetic lubricants.
The rings can't get a seal...
