Broken Guide Wheel

the guide wheel on the upper shft that holds the springs on the right hand side of my sled broke in half. any one else have problems with these guide wheels. they seem to be really thin plastic for holding track tension on them. :4STroke: :yam:

the mechanic looked at the sled today and said i might need two new springs, guide wheels, and a track... all of the track clips are worn and burred. man this bites. yamaha service rep is supposed to be coming to look at it. hopefully he will approve all the parts.

Brothers FX broke the two inner wheels and also messed up the drivers on the track. Track replacement is neccesary....
Actually, the two wheels seemed to fall off the bearings, which seem to be ok. Then the wheels got beat to death and wore the driver lugs!

Yamaha should stand behind these issues.

Time will tell....

The wheels that failed are #18's

Dealer was suppose to call Yamaha rep today...

Sorry, no pics of the sled... we didn't get a chance before taking to the dealer......

Keep us updated on this issue, I've got 750km on mine of abuse and all the wheels are still good, but I'm putting in my 1.5" track tonight and I guess I will be checking all the wheels a little closer. Thanks for the info.

Put mine on the lift a couple hours ago, #18's both are deformed on mine. Just dropped it off @ the dealer, we will see what they say.

98 miles, good to great base for the most part and this is a ditch banger?

Not to sound like an alarmist, but here we go again! Yamaha, wake up! This is the third year in a row and they still cannot provide a decent wheel. :ORC

both of the wheels on my sled seemed to break right were they poured the platic into the mold. you can see the circles where the poured the plastic and this is right were they broke. sorry for no pics. the yamaha rep took them with him.

Let me ask you a question...studs or no studs in the track?

I'm already getting some slight finger pointing, the first regarding marginal conditions (34"+) @ camp last weekend. The second just talking to Yamaha product specialist, with the statement "Yamaha does not recommend studs".

I'm staying pretty calm right now, but I do not appreciate the ohh so slight hints of operator error. My REV's have well over 3K, not one issue and they've seen much worse than this 98 miles last weekend.

Anyone have the RTA Larry's number?
