I know that I will not find another motor at this time that I will like as much as the YAMAHA. But spending 10K then spending another couple of K on improvements is getting out of hand because the ride and control is still not there compared to other sleds. The last thing I want to DOO is jump ship (A little humor there)but I dont want to spend a bunch now and then YAMAHA makes the improvements on next years sled . Then the resale value of the sled I buy this year will drop like a rock. I can buy a new 07 800 Blizzard still in the box with a 3year warranty for $7100 . They have the 07 RTX with 103 miles on it for $8000 and I dont know about the warranty on it. I dont know what I am going to do I guess I will have to wait until the ins. company gets done anyway. The sled has Bent tunnel, left rear exhaust, snapped the rear shock off ,windshield, handle bars, pod, kill switch, hood, right side panel, tail light, rear flap, engine code, wont idle and that is what I can see not being a sled mechanic and not looking under it or in depth. So I,m guessing its a loss.

Is the 13mm sway bar still good? If it is, I will take it.
Even if you have to go back to a DOO for a year, it won't be that bad. Is that 7100 out the door for the DOO?

I don't know, but a revalved, reinforced monoshock with my curve xs skis on the 06 rtx is a blast...and unless all out flying through the air on the big g outs is your bag, you can run with anything on the normal crap trails...the apex is a blast, and the most comfortable rough trail ride I've been on.

how do you like the curves? How heavy is the steering? More than stock in the tight twistes? Are the they wider than stock?
Thanks,

Alright, let me know if you can get it off and I will take it.. It all depends if you plan on keeping it for 2 years or dumping it once you see what the Yamaha 2010 lineup looks like. I think I would just buy a used sled and wait it out...

Buy a used apex (private seller will save you more money), throw your aftermarket parts on it, part out the totalled sled and wait and see what new sleds come out. Why buy an extended warranty if you're even considering buying a brand new sled in a year or two?

They are curved all over...they are wide in front, narrow near the spindle and widen out again out back. They also have very little kick up in the back of the ski giving better floatation on deeper snow.
Steering doesn't feel heavy, but there is a lot of 'centering' feel...you almost have to try one to see what I mean.
Haven't run any tight twisties yet, but I see nothing to think there will be any issue...they just make the sled a lot more fun.

My comment is dump the mono and go to ZX2. The ride and handling are great.
Put on Slydogs, better flotation, but darting still bad. When I used the Bergstrom Good and Ugly kit, 4" triple point non studded, on the production skis this got rid of the darting. Now waiting on a similar kit for the SlyDogs or back to the production.

the prices I see for used apex rtx with 3500miles is still 6500 the extended war is good for resale time . I worry about the new yamaha tanking the resale of the 07. There are not many yamaha sleds where I live so used is hard to find. The doo might be cheaper for me because I'm sure ill take a big hit from the ins plus the hit I will take when the 2010 yamaha comes out. I don't want to switch but I'm wondering money wise if it would be better for a year or 2Wisconsin said:Buy a used apex (private seller will save you more money), throw your aftermarket parts on it, part out the totalled sled and wait and see what new sleds come out.
