Last spring I called Yamaha about the handwarmer issue. They said they were aware of the issue and were working on a fix for the 2008 models and it should be out for next fall. I called for an update and there is no solution by Yamaha other than to purchase more products from their catalog...gloves, hand guards, windshield. (good marketing) I spoke with a product specialist and he did not know if the same setup was used in the 2009 Nytro to luke warm the hands.

Out of curiosity I asked about the front a-arms and if anything was going on there - nothing. There is nothing wrong with the 2008 front suspension, and not to believe what's been posted in these online forums. Yamaha makes quallity products, engineered to specifications, tested, etc, etc, etc. According to Yamaha, what you guys with bent front ends are not telling the whole story. You may be doing some 'rough trail riding', hitting trees or jumping.

Alright now, enough is enough ! Buy MORE products from their catalogue ? When the original handwarmers don't work to begin with ??? Yaaaa, ok then ! ;)! I wonder if they've even seen the post on here lately, the pages and pages where everyday guys are working together to fix the handwarmer issue on our own ? I mean C'MON, what gives ??? And if the specialists can't confirm that the 09 has upgraded handwarmers, then who the heck @ Yamaha knows ??? Now I do agree that some guys are out there wacking trees and stumps and rocks etc., but the phrase "innocent until proven guilty" applies here as well, and for a rep to automatically assume that everyone is out there smashing their "rough trail" sleds all to h*ll, then that doesn't say much for the rest of us who aren't. The season is just around the corner guys, better do your PM's on your sleds yourself by the sounds of it...... :crap:

Mmmmm. That's a little disapointing. I really thought they might come out with a reduced cost fix like they did for the 06' Apex Bars. Of coarse also hoping the fix would have worked better. Anyway I think an "at cost" for all updated components would have been a decent gesture and at least showed some mercy and understanding. I'm sure that many did hit things and some didn't hit anything, maybe that's the main reason, just too hard to tell unless the sled is really damaged. Unfortunatly I think they are going to loose some customers at least for a little while until the Nytro proves itself for a year or two. It's easier to keep a cusomer than it is to win them back.

We all need to call and stay on them about it. Even Amsow was complaining about it in the latest buyers guide report on the new Nytro.

Just to add a little to this: I talked to a Rep. at Haydays this past weekend. It was actually kinda comical looking back at it. A little asian fellow. I asked him if he had heard any complaints about the Nytro handwarmers. Immediately I saw a smirk come over his face, and he said: "well, yeah we have had a couple complaints."
I said:"well I'm here to complain as well."
He said:" I think you should take it to the dealer and they can look it over"
I said, "OK, then what should I do when they call me back and tell me everything is fine, because that's what is going to happen. I talked to the dealer about this once before and they just shrugged it off. (Same thing as with the wet left foot deal)"
He said, : "Well maybe you need to look into getting warmer gloves"
I said, " I never have gotten cold hands before with any Polaris I've ridden and that was with no hand guards. Now I switch to Yamaha and I need to buy a new pair of gloves on top of the $10K for a new sled"
He said, " I gues so"

At this point a was very pissed, so I went to another rep just to see if I'd get the same respnse. The next conversaion went about the same. Except I was really pissed after this conversation and I told the rep that maybe Yamaha should give/sell OFFICIAL FX NYTRO riding gloves with every purchase of a new sled. That way they can avoid future complaints and mark that up as an official corrective action. LOL. You should have seen everyones face when I said that. LOL

I seriously of all things can't beleive that Yamaha told me to get warmer gloves if its a problem. One of the big reasons I switched to Yamaha last year was because I heard how great their service was. I guess times are changing.

Now don't get the wrong impression of me, I'm not usually the type of person to raise a fuss, but the fact that they actaully told me to buy warmer gloves pisses me off.

If there's nothing wrong with the front suspension then why all the changes for the '09 models?

Not a surprise really. It would be nice though if they at least said we're working on something instead of saying "what problem?". I do understand that they would have people hounding them if they said they're working on something. It just seems like they just gave you the middle finger, thanks for your money!
:die

Same story we got all last year wait for updates etc... Still holding my breath, the 08 weather they admit it or not has front end and hand warmer problems end of stroy. Read every magazine, even yamaha's own marketing. Weather guys say they tamed it down or not, they had to fix it because it was/is dangerous. I moved to yamaha after 10 years of doo, and now guess where I am, the nytro in one season ruined it for me and I will never buy another product from them peroid.

Just to give ppl some idea of what we have in our garage from yamaha after switching from brp starting in 06

06 apex gt
07 apex gt
08 apex gt
08 nytro rtx
08 nytro er
08 rhino
2x 07 grizzly 700's

Between my father and I purchased all the above from yamaha since 06, when I say they lost people that were supporting and buying from them I mean it.

Sold everything but the rhino, my nytro, and the 08 gt 40th.

Ontop of the 08 nytros we bought 1 08 revxp 800r, 1 08 renegade 800r, 1 09 pre release etec 600, 2 renegade 800 atv's from brp.

Had yamaha been good to us and looked after us we would not have switched camps. I know its alot of bitching but when you invest the $ into a company we have to use their products they had better stand behind them.

on order 09 Rev xp renegade 600 etech, 09 rev xp 800 renegade.

Jamie why are you here then... just to sell your last years sled?

I dont get some people... so you think Doo is going to come running to your every need....

I have bought $30000 dodge trucks that they would not take care of me... so I get a $45000 Chevy Sub and get treated the same....
I call Chevy and dodge on recall that I found on the net and the service was not done correctly and have been shafted.......

we are consumers.... we should get treated like kings??? LOL

Its mostly the dealers problem to handle the customer and work with Yamaha/Chev, Dodge or whatever and it really make a WORLD of difference on how you are treated....

I hate to stir the pot anymore than it has been, and I dont even own a Yami fourstroke. But I had a few issues with my Viper that I tried to get addressed with my dealer, and than Yamaha, and felt like I got the old middle finger as well.
Ive owned about 17 sleds ,most of which were used sleds, 7 out of the last 9 were Yamaha's including three brand new Yami's. Ive been waiting patiently for a new Yamaha to fit my riding style and thought that the Nytro was getting close. But with all the Issues the last few years that Yamaha seems to be brooming under the rug, Its making it very difficult to lay down the $11000 and hope I dont become another dissapointed customer.
The sad thing is, that these are relatively simple problems to be fixed and dont speak to the overall quallity of the sleds. But it sure leaves a bad taste in a customers mouth when Yamaha refuses to help with these "little things".
Handwarmers, this isnt rocket science!
Wore out bushings, they tried to save a few bucks and it didnt pan out, offer a cheap upgrade and keep you customers happy for Gods sake!
Ice on the running boards, overheating, weak subframes etc!!
I personally dont want to jump ship, but its getting tougher and tougher to stay onboard!
sorry for the rant!

yamaha

Well guys, I was on the fence about buying a new nytro xtx coming from three years on a apex. You pay $12000.00 or more for a new sled that yamaha knows they need a ski change and hand warrmer fix. At that price this should be addressed. Four years later, no exuse. So I hate to say it guys, but I jumped ship this year to a ski-doo 1200 x. Im still a yamaha guy, but I need something new to get my mojoe going. I hope yamaha gets things straight for all you guys that spent the big bucks to have quality and top shelf service. If they dont, they will hurt in sales. :exc:
