Just barely, they just tighten up as the shock tops out. If they are any looser I’d have to tighten them a hole to protect the shock.is there any tension on your straps with the sled in the air with the weight off the suspension? mine are 1 tighter than center to center and the straps are still not tight with no weight

Okay well then I definitely have something going on with mine. Gonna look into it tonight.Just barely, they just tighten up as the shock tops out. If they are any looser I’d have to tighten them a hole to protect the shock.

Limiter straps do stretch rather quickly on vipers, try a new set, their cheap.

The xtx straps don't stretch they tear at the bolt holes I went through 2 sets on the 14 before I put the hygear linkage in

Tomato, tomato, they get longer one way or the other, ultimately causing shock damage by overextending. The xtx straps don't stretch they tear at the bolt holes I went through 2 sets on the 14 before I put the hygear linkage in

I didnt look at the picture until now of the shock specs that cannondale posted, but according to the chart, the XTX shock is about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the mtx and also the LTX, not longer, so if the factory had accidentally put a shock from an MTX in mine, it should actually be longer than the correct one...
That is a 15 chart. Be careful of the model designations. Okay that makes sense, I actually just rear another report that the XTX shock is longer than the MTX in 14, so that could be the confusion I'm running into...That is a 15 chart. Be careful of the model designations. There is 3 for 141 I believe.
Appreciate everyones help in figuring this out! Once its taken care I look forward to enjoy riding it more! and then I may or may not look into a different track...

Okay, I just got done pulling the shock out, the shock is 11.75” center to center. Whether that’s stock for a 14XTX I am not sure, the diagram Cannondale posted shows it is, and the mountain sleds have a 12.50”, but I guess that’s for 2015s. I checked the part number and it shows as being the correct shock for a 14 141 crosstour, However, like the 14 Viper XTX shock, the part has been updated. To a longer length? That I have no way of knowing...
But, my lower cross shaft for the shock is bent, which in turn would suck the suspension up SOME, but it’s not bent enough IMHO to cause the issue I’m experiencing. But is definitely is adding to it.
Still thinking this shock may be too short, and I could replace it with a 12.50” one, or I could move the mount forward as some have done, essentially doing the same thing as getting a longer shock.
How the PO bent the shaft is beyond me cause it’s a pretty stout unit...
Really Appreciate everyone’s thoughts and help with this..

That lower front skid shock axle can be replaced with a steel one from the Cat race sleds. It's not uncommon to bend the stock piece.

Is that true for the XTX also?

Interesting info here, I ordered new limiter straps because mine had seen better days, the new ones have an updated part number, I got them yesterday and immediately noticed they are shorter than the factory ones I had.. I put them in, and with the new ones on the loosest setting, they are exactly where my old ones were, which was one hole tighter than center to center hole... So I cannot loosen them any further now, and on the loosest setting the center shock is almost exactly topped out.
another interesting fact, i looked up the 2016 XTX parts diagram, and they have a completely different part number than the ones for the 14.

Limiter straps have been superseded with new style with less holes thanstock ones had. Stock ones stretched very quickly, and tore bolt holes due to close spacing of the holes. When installing limiter, set it in the first set of holes that prevents the shock from fully extending. I can tell you from experience that the XTX will not wheelie like an LTX with the coupler shaft removed. Your spinning the soft lug cobra. The BC's are much stiffer and hook way better on the trail. The do tend to trench more in the deep snow though.

That’s on my list for the summer.. new track. Maybe I’ll even get over-zealous and tackle it this winter yet... either gonna change drivers and run a 144” or cough up and get a new 141 1.75Limiter straps have been superseded with new style with less holes thanstock ones had.
