Can Nytro hang with a Rev in the rough stuff?

I have had both sleds. The suspension under the Nytro is by far better than the Rev. The nytro has alot more power and torque. Both of these sleds are rider foward. The nytro is heavier but corners much better than the Rev on flat corners on trails. If you ride in alot of deep snow in ditch's or drain fields the Rev I think is alot better. The ski-doo is much easier to move around in deep powder. The yamaha is decent in deep snow but doesn't have the ease of the Rev. They are both great snowmobiles. I went with the Nytro because I like the four stroke motor and the fact that it is a much stronger built machine than the newer Rev's. I think that the older Rev's are built stronger and had better shocks.

Yes! It's physics, a XP is about 20% lighter than a FX Nytro RTX. Therefore the inertia is easier to dampen and control on the XP. The first year FX Nytro proved to be more reliable than the first year XP.
While the 08 FX Nytro is a VERY good sled and competes well on the trail with any non XP sled. Doo raises the bar with the light weight XP and IF all the issues with reliability get address they could have a very nice rough trail sled. Until then I'll take the FX Nytro RTX! And yes I own both, and played with each of them together through out all last winter!

I actually people find the weight not so much as a disadvantage, They say they feel more stable in the air and in the rough,Is this true? I know you have the TNT and the Nytro RTX,Which one did you ride more last if you dont mind me asking.

My wife owns the TnT! (I got reminded each time I rode it. LOL) I have way more miles in the RTXs but played with many sled through out the season. I do not regret getting the 08 FX NytroRTX one bit and it will be my 'sled of choice' this comming winter. I logged about 2000 miles on the RTX and about 500 miles on the XP last winter. I even took my old Rev race sled out a couple trips and logged 300 miles on it ... While I really liked that sled before owning the FX NytroRTX it was just missing something after riding the Yamaha.... torque!!! Torque does a good job of masking the FX NytroRTX's weight on most trails. But when you get into deep mogals where one can NOT use throttle to beat through them that is one of the few conditions where the FX NytroRTX doesn't shine. One of the others is very tight tree lined twisty trail. A stock XP can run and hide from a set up FX Nytro just becaue it is so easy to 'flick' through the trees or tight switch back type turns where quick breaking (oops braking but I was talking XP so it fits lol) is needed. At speed there is no comparison! While the FX NytroRTX feels solid and firmly in control the XP feels 'skiddish' or uncertian at holding a straight line over the smallest bumps when running fast. (* we don't ride groomed trail!) SO all of our riding is over bumps some just bigger than others.

Thank you for the input,I always enjoy reading your post. What are you looking for next year? Are you going to trade in the Nytro for an SE or going to see what Yamaha comes out with?? I am interested in seeing what they do with the Apex for 010.

I also see you poking fun at the XP for braking,Did your wifes TNT have trouble?

Thanks. We bought a Honda Goldwing back in March of '08 THAT is our 'new 09 sleds'! lol I will have about 15,000 miles on the Goldwing buy the end of September. We'll be riding the same fleet of sleds this next winter. We will be looking closely at the line up of the '010 sleds. Just making small changes to the current fleet.

TO answer your question... NOT while she was on it! but yes I replaced a couple rear idlers and had the driveshaft exchanged (after I changed the track to 120x1.75x16 so I was somewhat worried who's dime that was going to be) Along with the list of recall items. Everything was covered under warrenty but there was some down time. The FX NytroRTX was ridden MUCH harder and held up very well. Even took a pretty hard tumble with th FX NytroRTX while on frozen dirt covered with about 2" of fresh snow. Bent the rear tunnel, (cosmetic only) broke one hand guard and bent one ski, after multiple barrel rolls starting @ about 40mph We CAN'T blame any damage due to crashing on the sled or who makes them!

I am way ahead of you,I ordered my Skis already and now I am just trying to find out which is the best slip on exhaust,So if you have any insight on that,That would be great!

I am considering full,But Don't really want to spend 850 on one right now,So I am going to buy a slip on for sound then later on in the month if I want buy the headers for it
