Guys, I'm looking at an 07 fx with only 500 miles on the gauge, owner claims it's honest actual miles. Can you put a new, zero mile gauge on a machine, or is there a safeguard against that? Thanks.

Yes you can...mileage is stored in the gauge. I had a 07 Phazer FX that I rolled over and busted the gauge. I bought a new gauge and plugged it in and it read 0 miles. Look for chipping on the A-arms, shock springs or sings of reprinting. 500 mile sled is still basically new.

x2, look at the bottom of the skis for wear.
Thanks guys. I'll be checking The sled out tomorrow possibly. I'll look over the arms and skis.

What a score if you find one with 500 miles. But make sure you get a smokin deal because there is a pile of updates that need to be done on the 07 models.
I believe there is hrs in diagnostic mode. That is read off ECU but even those are frequently changed so yes wear is best indicator.Should be tits left on track at 500mi!
I ran the Vin and no updates have been completed, not a big deal. I work for a power sports dealer. I'm supposed to be meeting up with the guy tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted.

It's is a bit of a big deal. When I bought my 07 I was told that the updates where done, some were most weren't. The money I spent on the updates could have been used to buy a newer sled and save me a lot of work. 08 and up have most of the updates done.
I work for a yam dealer, so I get parts at cost and labor for cheap, I'm not terribly worried about the updates. This will be my 4th 07 phazer and I haven't had any of the issues others have. How do I access the diagnostic mode to check ecu hours? Thanks.
Very interesting, What if you bought a used gauge pod off E-Bay that had miles on it , Would it read what was stored in it. This sucks for people buying used sleds.

Hey guys, I loaded up the sled last night (I was trading a 2009 snopro 600 for it) and the guy bailed on me for a second time. The deal is off. Thanks everyone for your advice and help, I appreciate it.
