Can you mount a cooler to tail section?

Is the aluminum flat section behind the seat to be left open for cooling or can I strap something to it? Looks like a good spot to carry a tool box or lunch? Does it need to be open for cooling and does it get hot

It gets really warm but I strap lots of stuff on there,even a small chainsaw sometimes covered in a garbage bag.

as long as you have exh turn outs it should be fine.

Where might I get exhaust turnouts?

they used to be availible from yamaha. now a days you might need to go to an auto part store to get them.
