Can you safely run 7psi of boost??

Waiting to hear back from Ken (push turbo). That will play a major role in my plan.

For those wanting to know know about my Nytro set-up, Yes it is a stock motor, no head shim or low comp. pistons. It does have the up-graded fuel pump and will always be at a 42-45# at the fuel rail.

It has been boosted since day one. Brought it home and put the S/C on before it ever touched the snow.
Most of the time running down the trail, I have it running 8#, At higher speeds will see close to 10# This is at the 1,000 ft. area
When we go out West and run at 8,000 to 10,000 ft. I turn the BOV up and run 12#

I don't get to crazy and run it WOT for very long peroids. ( I'm a old guy, just out having fun);)!

I also have MPI's tunnel coolers, which give you 8 ft. of cooler in the tunnel and so my motor runs at least 15-20 degrees cooler than stock. I have deleted the radiator, and it still runs this cool.
I believe that the coolers are part of why my motor stays together at the higher boost levels, and also maybe the ecu programming on the Nytro is not as touchy as the Viper is?
Another thing that is may be helping is that I had my ecu re-flashed by MPI and it will take timing out of it when needed, Plus the PC5 and the auto-tune are is another factor.

Hope this helps explain what I have done, I know lots of people say this shouldn't work, but it has for me and I have run over 4,000 miles with no issues! ;)!

Hey what do you mean, old guy? We're not old we're experienced.

I like the way you think Mark!!

I feel like I'm still 25 when I'm out driving my Boosted Nytro with the ski's 3 feet in the air!;)!

I don't need to be 25 again, I feel blessed to be active and able. Besides we can afford a lot better equipment now! LOL

Always trying to look on the bright side.

Be safe in the field.

Plan still up in the air because for over a week now Ken wont return any calls!!! Starting to be a Push Turbo hater...

Ken is owner of Push Turbo

How much boost can you you run on upgraded fuel pump without head shim and without intercooler safely. Who is doing it and has and how much ? How important is the intercooler?

Above 6 psi the intercooler is very important. Your motor won't/doesn't like 180* intake temps, the higher you turn the boost up on your non-intercooled MPI kit the higher the intake temps get. Higher intake temps = detonation and also lower horsepower per lb of boost.

Each setup is different, this thread is about a PUSH turbo kit. It's basics/characteristics won't/don't apply to an MPI kit because they are quite different kits.

Also, your type of riding somewhat dictates what you can get away with too. A guy who does 0-100 mph acceleration (corner to corner) can likely get away with a little more boost than a guy who does alot of high speed long wide open running.

I was at arctic man a large snow machine event 15,000 or so. A lot of us viper turbo sled got together to go for a few rides and there is a big difference between the guys that intercooler and shimmed there sleds vs guys on the same psi that did are running clock motor and no cooler.
Had two guys mpi trail turbo no intercoolers running 8psi one with upgraded fuel pump and there afrs were 11.8 stock fuel setup and 11.2 with upgraded fuel all riding from 5-8k ft, but if you rode an intercooler one at the same 8psi it felt healthier, better throttle response and noticeably more powerful.
Long story short, on pump gas everyone loved an intercooler above 6psi and no one recommended over 8psi without a cooler, fuel upgrades and shim
You have to pay to play, or at least play safe.
