Just got my new American snowmobiler mag, lots of good comments on the Apex,BUT when you look at the specs page and the price for the Apex mtn in US dollars{ which is more than prices quoted in these forrums} and times that by the current exchange rate it still comes out over one thousand bucks cheaper. Why is Yamaha ripping off the Canadians?Do they knowingly discriminate against us Canucks? I think this is total Bulls---.I think if its possible I will buy my next sled in the US,AS much as my local dealer[Kamloops Yamaha] has tryed to provide me with great service,it should be Yamaha's responsibility to look out for thier dealers on either side of the border,This is an outrage,to Canadian customers. Especially when my dealer took a beating by taking my Cat on trade to get me on a Yami.So WTF should maybe all Canadians buy U.S.?? That would really help our respective local dealers,Just when I was getting comfortable owning a Japenese sled I find this crap out.Doesnt sit well with me.Any more Canucks feel the same? We should get together and petition Yamaha and let them know this is NOT RIGHT.!!!

There are lots of others here that feel the same as you. Canadians just shouldnt buy the products until something is done.

Not sure why Yamaha decides to do this other than to protect against exchange rates. I suspect, and only suspect, that come times that the sled gets to dealer, that there is a price adjustment which can or may be passed on to the customer. Of course if the dealer doesn't tell you and why should he, then you might not get it.

Not buying Yamaha in Canada is NOT the solution cause you only punish the dealer who eventually stops selling yamaha and then you will always have to travel to the states to get a sled and play the duty game at the border. This means service and parts too.

Nothing wrong with dropping Yamaha a line tho and giving them an ear full. Enough do it and as they say the squeaky wheel gets greased. Nobody says anything for sure, nothing gets done.

Man I cannot believe that the prices have gone thru the roof. You can buy a car for the price of an RX.

Money talks plain and simple. If they are losing sales due to this unfair price then the price will be adjusted. I doubt dealers will die because of low snowmobile sales. They sell bikes, generators and outboards too.

Same here. I was looking at an new Attack but the price is insane here in Canada. I will keep my Vector until they fix this problem. They will notice this problem as a lack of sales this year.

it all has to do with the exchange rate. when yammi or any other dealer for that matter sets prices on the sleds back to the beginning of the year when the snowchecks come out, they try to set a price on both sides of the border to even it out according to the exchange rate. if the exchange dips or climbs thats outta there control, and thus leaving either the north or south of the border in a bonus situation. you look at about 4 years ago, and it was opposite. all the yanks were coming north of the border to buy their sleds because the exchange rate favored them. now with the canadian dollar doing well, it is our turn to get the better deal by going south if you so feel inclined. from 99 until 02, i bought brand new sleds (polaris) and put them on a one year no interest or payment deal. at the end of the year, i was able to sell the sled for what i had the loan out for, and all i paid was insurance, registration and gas and oil for the year. heck, i even got my gst back out of the sale and the buyer still got a smoking deal. just remember though, if a dealer gets caught selling a sled to the opposite side of the border, they could possibly get their dealership yanked from them. all the manufactures are getting downright serious about this. hope this helps. rj

I think the original RX1 2003 Actuallt was Cheaper in Canada

I think the original RX1 2003 Actuallt was Cheaper in Canada than the us.
Unfortunatly I Bought mine on a Pre Sale and could Have got it for a couple grand less if I Just Waited Untill They Sat in show rooms Crying Like orphans looking for a home.
I Paid just under 14 Grand after the smoke cleared and I Paid Cash in Calgary.
Before my Sled Even arrived I saw one in local Buy & Sell for 12 grand and it alread had holtz suspention and almost no miles
I couldnt figue out how he even got it as I ordered mine When I was Told they were not available untill The Next fall
I Rode the Apex & I think it is Great But I Will NEVER be a Sucker for a Pre Sale Again im pretty sure there will be plenty of sleds sitting on shop floors with a great discount after christmas. Untill Then my RX is actually running better now than it did the whole first year I owned it.

we booked a 03 mtn LE for 11,200.00 and then found out we could have gotten it cheaper, by a couple hundred bucks.

Scott hit it there , just need to hold off for a month or two and we should see some lower prices UNLESS the apex really kicks some stocker ASSS then they will be a hot item and pricey won`t go down :o| #$%&*

I am going to let them get all the kinks out before I buy one. With this much new innovtion in one year there is going to be quite a bit of kinks to get ironed out.

From what I've seen so far, I don't think there will be many leftovers. Lot's of people ordered RX1's on hype, never actually rode one, dealers included. When they actually got on the snow and the reports came in, a lot of people walked away from their orders. That changed with the Vector, you could actually go and ride one. Same thing with the Apex except it's even better. I could be wrong, guess we'll have to wait and see.
