Catch can

Has anyone put the catch can before the ROV to try preventing water from getting into the valve and freezing?

I was just thinking about that yesterday. Going to give that more thought since I have nothing else to do all locked up in my house.

I don't think the Catch Can separates the water and since the ROV freezes from just condensation, i don't think it will matter anyways.

Here is what my Catch Can looks like every few thousand miles on my Ecoboost

Mr. Sled, Have you had any more thoughts about this? I am not entirely convinced that the catch can would pull water out of the higher pressure warm air before the ROV. It may in fact make it worse because there is no longer oil mixed with the water that would be in the valve...

You may be right. There is really no good area there to mount it. Im going to do some testing with catch cans after and see how things go. Some will want to just remove it completely.

I am going to end up doing something about the vent on my sled in the next month or so (partially for something to do). Problem is I spend too much time doing stupid things and will end up with the sled on it's side so I don't want to remove the ROV entirely like some members. On your 2020 SRX with the heated valve I would think that the problem is just what to do with the oil/water. On the 2018 I am thinking more about the valve itself and how to protect it from freezing or thaw it out quickly and blowing the seal out of the tank.

We have a couple 2017 Winders that I used BOPs idea and put in a pressure alarm to catch them if they stick or freeze. I can send you a few pictures if you want. I might add catch cans on them as well just to keep the crap out of the inter-cooler.

If you have pictures that would be fantastic! Either way I will also be re-routing the vent tube somewhere that is not the intake. Just need to decide if I will do out the bottom of the sled or catch can, great examples of both here.

here is what I did.
