2014 Viper Oil Light

Lets get some feedback on this thread from those who found solutions and I will put it in Facts Sticky. Its a scary thing to happen.

I've read on here were other have had to do the same thing after a roll-over. For some reason disconnecting the battery, turn the key on and off, and reconnecting the battery resets the computer.

Also I may be wrong but I believe the same red light goes on at a overheat. If radiator is full of snow or ice and the snow is sticky and built up on exchanger the sled will overheat and go into a shutdown mode eventually(Red light on Steady). Reversing the fan makes this happen much sooner but I have had it go into the limited power mode(Red light flashing) even with fan going the right way when both were plugged full of snow/slush.
Thanks for the reaponses, my breather box was spitting out oil two seasons ago and a buddy of mine fixed it, honestly, i dont know exactly how, i know he did something to keep the “ball” from opening and dumping oil. My coolant temp was good, if it happens again ill check the radiator for snow too.

When i got back and disconnected the battery it worked, im just hoping there isn’t some underlying problem.

I dont think so. I think its just a Defective Flash. Get the new flash asap. Its alot better.
Well at least thats good to know. I’ve read about flashes in this forum, but i have no clue what that is. There are no dealers within 700 miles which is two flights and $3,000 round trip to ship my machine. Is it something i can do or something that a dealer does? If i can do it is there some info you could share with me on how to do it?

I am afraid the flash is only done by a dealer. However it is internet based which you obviously have. A dealer armed with the YDS tool could come to you and do the job in 10 minutes. A good meal offer I bet would go a long way convincing a tech to do it. Sorry it's not simpler.

Yeah thats too bad, i live so remotely that its very expensive to do anything.

My sled has always done this, every flash. It happens only when I've been riding hard or the coolant temp is high when I shut down. I believe the solution is to ride easy the last few minutes before you shut it off, making sure that coolant temp is actually getting lower. That way I've never seen my light come on at shutdown, either key or killswitch.
