I change mine every season. Last year it was changed 2 times for different reasons. Not alot of miles on the last run but it is amazing how it can get dirty or used up so fast. I also installed a magnetic drain plug and the fine powder like metal flakes that are stuck to that magnet every year blows my mind. It looks like black sludge but when you rub the magnet into a rag you can see the metal. And soon get the idea of just how harsh it is inside that chaincase.

Where did you get the magnetic dipstick?

Not dipstick... Drain plug.
A place called Gold Plug found it online couple years ago.
I think it's goldplug.com ??
Buy 2 of them and put one in the chain case and put the second one in the bottom of the external oil tank.
Cheers

Thanks that's a good idea! I remember one of my old polaris's had the magnetic plug and it always had a lot of metal on it!

If I take the case off to clean it am I gonna have to deal with that broken bolt? It's a 08 mtx.

I just did mine and the bolt WAS NOT broke, 3600 miles on it. I was surprised it wasn't though.
